Purine-controlled diet

 Indicated for clients who have gout, tumor lysis or multiple myeloma, all those who have elevated uric acid
levels.
 Excessive purine accumulation in the body leads to an increase in uric acid, which is normal end product of
purine catabolism.
 The diet includes use of dairy products and restricts foods such as organ meats, anchovies, alcohol and seafood.

Ginataang Gulay: A Filipino vegetable stew viand made from Calabaza in coconut milk and spices that includes:

 Coconut
 Eggplant
 Squash

 Coconut is an alternative to rich-gout causing dairy products such as high fat milk and it will not cause
spike in uric acid levels.
 Eggplant is low in purine
 The summer squash produces low purine, complex carbohydrates.

Egg Sanwich:

 Mayo
 Lettuce
 Egg
 Wheat bread
 Eggs are good in protein source for people with gout as eggs are naturally low in purines
 Lettuce is very good for elimination of uric acid, especially the darker outer leaves
 Wheat bread, do not increase uric acid levels as it has carbohydrates

Drinks:

 Non-fat milk
 The proteins found In this promote excretion of uric acid in the urine and supports the elimination of
uric acid in the urine.

Additional:

 Nuts
 Is a good source of low-purine and are nutritious
