Topic/Title: Types of Communicative Strategy


Grade Level: Grade 11- St. Elizabeth
Time Allotment: 1 Hour

At the end of the lesson students should be able to
a. Distinguishing various types of communicative strategies
b. Use acceptable , polite and meaningful communicative strategies
c. Engage in a communicative situation.
ELICIT ( 2minutes) MATERIALS
The teacher asks the students to look under the chair and get all the pieces of paper that Pieces of paper with words
they will see. Then, ask them to open the paper and give its meaning based on how they written on it.
understand it from their previous lesson.

ENGAGE (5minutes)
The teacher will show the learners a video clip “Tara na Byahe tayo” an MTV performed Video of “Tara na Byahe
by various Filipino artists with the common goal of encouraging Pinoys to visit and explore Tayo”
the wonderful places in the Philippines.
QUESTIONS:
What do you think is the must-see in the country?
How do you feel about the video?

EXPLORE (5minutes)
After watching the video, group yourselves into two groups. Decide on the Most Exciting
Tourist Spot in the country. Assign a speaker who will share your choice and reasons and
present it in the class.

As soon all the groups have presented their decisions, they will vote for the “Most Exciting
Tourist Spot in the Philippines.
EXPLAIN (10 minutes)
The teacher will asks the students to find below words inside the room then they will look
the meaning of these in the dictionary. Afterwards, the students will use it in the
sentence.
Each group assigns to discuss the certain topic based on their understanding of
Communication Strategy
 Nomination
 Restriction
 Turn-taking
 Topic Control
 Topic Shifting
 Repair
 Termination
ELABORATE (5 minutes)
Teacher will ask the students the following questions:
How do you differentiate the different types of Communicative Strategy
How these strategies will apply in everyday living?

After they will make an elaboration about the types of the communicative strategy the
teacher will extend the learning into different agency that could possibly relate in the
topic.
EVALUATE ( 25 minutes)
Now that the class has picked the Most Exciting Tourist Spots in the Philippines (done in
Explore). The class will pretend to plan a trip and go there.

The whole class, pretend that they are members of the class field Trip Committee.

The teacher will assign the students to make a short conversation role playing. Students
will have 15 minutes to prepare and they have 10minutes to present. Make sure to assign
people to play the other characters mentioned in each scene.

 Scene 1: While eating in the canteen, you go over the brochures of the tourist
spots for the field trip. You talk about the various information about the location.
 Scene 2: You decide the final route of the field trip and discuss the details such as
transportation, accommodation and meals.
 Scene 3: Upon arrival at your destination, you talk to the hotel caretaker about
your reservation. Inquire about breakfast schedules, hotel keys, Extra bedding and
room service.
 Scene 4: Ask the police officer and a vendor (on two different instances for
direction of the beach because the class is lost somewhere in town
 Scene 5: you have a free half day before your trip back home, so you decide on
what to do as members of the field trip committee. Your ideas and suggestions
clash, but ultimately everything is cleared out and you present the final plan to
your classmates.
EXTEND (10 minutes)
 Create a three minute tourism commercial.
 Plan and present a tourism commercial about the place you have visited in the
IMAGINARY FIELD TRIP activity
 Mention the things that make the tourist spot a dream destination. Remember,
this activity will help you practice making positive statements about the vacation
site and responding to how people see this place differently.

When writing your script for commercial, answer these 10 questions.

1. Why do tourists visit this place?


2. What do many visitors like to do here?
3. What would be best for a day trip?
4. What should one do for a good night out?
5. Where can visitors get the best food?
6. Where can visitors by their souvenirs?
7. What outdoor activities are famous?
8. What is amazing about the weather?
9. What is the best thing to do during summer?
10. What do tourists say about this vacation spot?
