Introduction

 Access Control System

Access control system ensures authorized entry to an access-

controlled premise and it also help to monitor the door open and
close status. It helps to monitor all the alarms and events of a door
force or ajar.

Access controller system mainly consists of the software,

controller and field devices. Field devices are connected to the
controller and controller communicates with software through
TCP/IP. A conceptual access control system schematic is shown
below.

The field devices used for the access control systems are card reader, electromagnetic lock,
door contact, break glass and exit buttons.
Components of an Access Control System

Access control systems are an important part of promoting security

in many different types of buildings. These systems are the best
way to monitor and restrict access to a whole building or to
different parts of a building. Although these systems seem fairly
straightforward, there are a few different parts that make up the
system. Read below to learn about the basic components of an
access control system.
Card Readers

Card Reader

The card reader is the device that will read access cards in order to
grant access. There are different types of card readers, some
requiring card insertion, some requiring swipes, and some only
needing cards to pass in proximity to the reader. Card readers are
typically mounted on the door or next to the door that they control,
so the number of card readers an access control system contains
will depend on the number of doorways to which you require
restricted access.

Common Fault Troubleshooting Steps

Card Reader is not working or not detecting cards

Check the card reader is connected to main controller

Check the door/reader is added to the ACS tree in software
Check the reader is manually disabled from the software
console.

Access Cards

Proximity Cards
In an access control system, access cards will take the place of
keys. People will scan their access cards to gain access to the
building or certain areas of the building. Each access card will
have its own unique code, allowing you to control access for each
individual, easily turning access on and off at different times or at
different areas of the building. Access cards are typically the size
of a credit card, making them portable and able to easily fit inside
a wallet.

Common Fault Troubleshooting Steps

Card Reading issue

Check the card is enrolled in the software user side

Check the Reader is on line (Blinking LED)
Check the whether the card is broken

Electric Lock

Site -Photographs

The hardware that actually locks and unlocks the doors is a part of
your access control system as well. Electric lock hardware will
electronically unlock your door after a keycard swipe or keypad
code entry, and electronically lock the door again when it closes.
There are many different types of electric lock hardware such as
electric locks, electric strikes, electromagnetic locks, and more.
The type of hardware used will depend on the construction of the
door. In addition to electronically locking and unlocking your
doors, electric lock hardware ensures that doors can be freely
opened whenever someone wishes to exit in order to comply with
building and fire codes.

Common Fault Troubleshooting Steps

Magnetic lock is not working

Check the power adaptor is working properly

Check the armature and door plate is aligned properly

Check the break glass/push button is NO connection status

Check the software whether the door release command is enabled or

not

Door Contact

Site -Photographs

Door Contact Module

A security door contact is usually a device consisting of a sensor

and a magnet that is attached to a door and its frame. When the
door is opened, and the magnet separates from the sensor a signal
is sent to the panel. This lets the security system know that the
door has been opened.

Common Fault Troubleshooting Steps

Door contact not triggering on/off status

Check the door contact (NO/NC ) Connectivity to the

controller
Check the door contact is broken or not.
Check the door contact is disabled from the software
console.
Push Button

Site -Photographs

Pushbutton

A Push button is a hardware switch (Normally Closed) allow the

exit /opening of door by releasing the lock power through the
reader main or controller.

Common Fault Troubleshooting Steps

Push Button not working

Check the push button terminal is connected properly in both

controller and device side.

Check the software is enabled option with Lock switching

Check the Pushbutton is not subjected to any damages.

Access control Panels with Controller

Site -Photographs

ACSController Enclosure

Field panels are the control panels that connect all other parts of
your access control system such as your card readers, keypads,
hardware, and more. Field panels are used to process access
control activity for the whole building. The number of panels will
be determined by the size of the building, the size of the system,
and the extent to which the system is used.

Common Fault Troubleshooting Steps

Panel offline

Check the Controller power is up and running

Check the cat6 connectivity to the network and switch port is up

Access Control Software

ACS Software-ID soft

Your access control software is the brain of your entire system. It

is the central database and file manager for the system. It records
system activity and distributes information to and from the field
panels in the building. This software runs on a traditional
computer. Typically, you will have one computer with this
software loaded on and it will be dedicated for full-time use of the
software.

Benefits

Security

 Access levels can be assigned to staff allowing entrance only to

assigned areas or only during specific hours
 Integrated metal detectors and turnstiles can increase your security
 Integrate with video surveillance and Fire Detection Systems for
enhanced safety
 Facial Recognition blacklists can be established to prevent
unauthorized entry.
Intrusion Detection

 Alarms when there is an unauthorized entrance in an office or

building.
 Consists of motion detection/ contact sensors that alert a wired or
wireless panel of an intrusion event. The panel will in-turn set off
an audible alarm and notify security using an SMS message to a
mobile phone or a recorded call.
 Can be integrated with the Access Control and CCTV systems

Efficiency

 Accurately record the time and attendance of all employees for

integration with HR Payroll.
 Integrate with a Visitor Management System to control movement
and eliminate logbooks
 Improves the flow of employees and vehicle
Savings

 Cut down on security personnel, paying for the system in reduced

manpower
 Systems for vehicles using windshield RFID stickers integrated
with boom gates can save on manpower
 Lifetime warranty, saving you money on repairs and replacement.

Common Fault Troubleshooting Steps

Software Hanging

Restart the software or PC .

Update the software to the latest version.

User can see various options to edit add and delete functionalities and user credentials. It is highly
recommended to avoid admin setup like controller, reader ,door and Door contact setup.

From The card option you can enrol and upload card details. Please note Card formats should not
change from user sides.

NOTE: All the 100 Cards has been pre-configured with card numbers
From Enroll Card option you can assign/edit users with respective cards and credentials.

Once edited select upload cards to Upload required cards entries by clicking Upload cards
From Employee Option we can Add/Edit user details and credentials

From Device option we can select and change required door properties and options (Not
recommended to change the admin settings and preconfigurations)
Door Settings Not recommended to change/Edit

From events Alarm-Events we can view the Door status and access status
