Course 05: Group Boundaries

Group boundaries: are used to determine who is included in a specific group and
who is not. Such boundaries play a central role in human perceptions and
behaviors. Sometimes group boundaries refer to concrete and objective criteria that
determine group membership (as in the case of gender).

Outsiders: individuals who are outside of a social circle. An outsider individual is

made based on rumors.

Moral boundaries are often conceptualized as an expression of an individual's

identity or belief system. However, social forces greatly influence how and when
consumers activate moral boundaries.

Social boundaries are defined in a different factor:

1. Family values
2. Working ethnic:
3. Religion

settings:
a) people who are living at the North: they are considered the most hard working
and dilligent people E.g.: Dutch population
b) people who are living at the South: they are considered the most laziest and
arrogant people. E.g. : Greek population.
