Fault Code 121F
Issue AES50 connection becomes intermittent or stops working
Remedy Replace IC17 and IC19 and inform the customer that only STP Ethercon cables should be used
Action Rework all units that show this issue
Technician Only authorized service technicians shall perform this procedure

Preparation
The following tools and parts are required in order to perform the procedures described in this service bulletin.

Tools Required
Crosshead screwdriver, 5mm metric AF nut driver, Hot air or similar soldering / de-soldering tool for SMT devices

About this bulletin


This bulletin describes how to remove and replace 2 surface mount ICs.

Follow all standard safety precautions when performing this procedure. Failure to follow instructions may lead to
permanent injury or death.

There is a risk of electrical shock due to high voltage discharge, even when the unit is off.

Please review all service bulletins and the service manual for this model. The service manuals contain schematics,
parts lists, and various 2D and 3D drawings.

Follow all standard ESD precautions when performing this procedure. Failure to follow instructions may
cause damage to the unit being repaired.

Procedure

Follow all steps in the order in which they are presented.

Disconnect the power cord and all other connections to the unit under repair.

There is a risk of electrical shock due to high voltage discharge even if the unit is off.

Refer to Service manual exploded drawing and service bulletin frame dissassembly instructions
for details of disassembly.

Locate the main pcb. IC17 and IC19 have to be removed and replaced, and this is on the top surface.
It may help you to remove the pcb to do this.

Carefully desolder and remove IC17 and IC19. Make sure all pads are clean and flat, and no traces are damaged.
Carefully solder the new ICs in place, and check all solder connections.

Reassembly is the reverse of disassembly.

Fit self-adhesive STP ONLY label below AES50 sockets.

Fit Hangtag over AES50 Ethercon push lock release tabs.

Perform a functional test and safety test to verify the unit is working correctly.
