Life Saving Faith

Hello friends, this is the 24th day of February

2019 according to the Gregorian Calendar. Isn't
time flying away?

Time is short friends, and even the devil knows

that.(Revelation 12:12) While we are busy
minding our business, the devil is working
overtime to destroy our faith.
Today we shall have a look at :
1.What faith is.
2.Examples of “true faith” from stories found in
the gospels.
3. How we can develop that living faith.
4. In whom we should be exercising this faith.
5. We also answer the question: Does one
have to be good in order for God to answer
our prayer of Faith?

I have started it with some Bible texts that

mentions faith. It may seem as if all I did was
sent you a compilation of scriptures at first but
continue reading until the end.

As you read, continually lift your your hearts to

God, asking Him to increase your faith in Him to
the saving of your souls and your loved ones.

Hebrews 10:38-39 KJV

Now the just shall live by faith: but if any man
draw back, my soul shall have no pleasure in
him.
[39] But we are not of them who draw back unto
perdition; but of them that believe to the saving
of the soul.

Romans 10:17 KJV

So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by
the word of God.

John 1:1-3,14 KJV

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word
was with God, and the Word was God.
[2] The same was in the beginning with God.
[3] All things were made by him; and without him
was not any thing made that was made.
[14] And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt
among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory
as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of
grace and truth.

Colossians 1:16-17 KJV

For by him were all things created, that are in
heaven, and that are in earth, visible and
invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions,
or principalities, or powers: all things were
created by him, and for him:
[17] And he is before all things, and by him all
things consist.

Hebrews 11:3 KJV

Through faith we understand that the worlds
were framed by the word of God, so that things
which are seen were not made of things which
do appear.

Hebrews 11:1 KJV

Now faith is the substance of things hoped for,
the evidence of things not seen.

With the knowledge of what we just read, we

can find it easier to believe that God is able to:

Psalm 51:10 KJV

Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a
right spirit within me.
Giving us new desires, new motives, new
passions and a love for God and His Word and
a love for each other.

Just as when a person plants a seed, water it,

and the seed germinates and grows, so it is,
when God plants the Seed of His Word in the
soil of our hearts, it grows when watered by
God's Holy Spirit without us even knowing the
science of it.

True Faith demonstrated:

Matthew 8:5-13 KJV

And when Jesus was entered into Capernaum,
there came unto him a centurion, beseeching
him,
[6] And saying, Lord, my servant lieth at home
sick of the palsy, grievously tormented.
[7] And Jesus saith unto him, I will come and
heal him.
[8] The centurion answered and said, Lord, I am
not worthy that thou shouldest come under my
roof: but speak the word only, and my servant
shall be healed.
[9] For I am a man under authority, having
soldiers under me: and I say to this man , Go,
and he goeth; and to another, Come, and he
cometh; and to my servant, Do this, and he
doeth it .
[10] When Jesus heard it , he marvelled, and
said to them that followed, Verily I say unto you,
I have not found so great faith, no, not in Israel.
[11] And I say unto you, That many shall come
from the east and west, and shall sit down with
Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob, in the kingdom
of heaven.
[12] But the children of the kingdom shall be
cast out into outer darkness: there shall be
weeping and gnashing of teeth.
[13] And Jesus said unto the centurion, Go thy
way; and as thou hast believed, so be it done
unto thee. And his servant was healed in the
selfsame hour.
This is one of the greatest demonstrations of
faith in the scriptures.

According to this passage, having great, true

faith, is to firmly believe and demonstrate the
belief, that God is more than able to do what He
says that He would, even though the external
sense of what you see, what you hear, what you
smell, what you taste, what or how you feel, and
what you believe, tempts you to believe that He
is not able.
It is knowing that because Jesus is the creator,
all things are under His authority. That includes,
sickness, disease, natural disasters, death, sin
are all under His Authority. When He speaks,
things change. In His Word is power. We can
take hold of His Word, in the scriptures, knowing
that it can create the change that we desire, if
we believe. Just as the centurion asked Him to
speak the word only, so we can believe that
God's Written Word, is enough to bring us
healing from Sin, Sorrow and Sickness. It is also
able to revive us, that our emotional, spiritual,
physical, mental, social health is renewed with
strength as the eagles. We must battle to
believe and to rest in His promises without one
spec of doubt. If in doubt, say: Lord I believe,
help thou my unbelief.

Here is another demonstration of Faith:

Romans 4:17-25 KJV

(As it is written, I have made thee a father of
many nations,) before him whom he believed,
even God, who quickeneth the dead, and calleth
those things which be not as though they were.
[18] Who against hope believed in hope, that he
might become the father of many nations;
according to that which was spoken, So shall
thy seed be.
[19] And being not weak in faith, he considered
not his own body now dead, when he was about
an hundred years old, neither yet the deadness
of Sara's womb:
[20] He staggered not at the promise of God
through unbelief; but was strong in faith, giving
glory to God;
[21] And being fully persuaded that, what he had
promised, he was able also to perform.
[22] And therefore it was imputed to him for
righteousness.
[23] Now it was not written for his sake alone,
that it was imputed to him;
[24] But for us also, to whom it shall be imputed,
if we believe on him that raised up Jesus our
Lord from the dead;
[25] Who was delivered for our offences, and
was raised again for our justification.

The whole point of all of the Bible stories,

demonstrations and examples of great faith, is
to demonstrate how we shall exercise it towards
God in an intelligent manner, that we can
believe to the saving of our souls.

From true belief in God, our actions would testify

and seal the faith that we have in God. If we
truly believe that Christ has carried our sins
away and suffered for it, we would hate sin,
striving against committing it against Him and
we would be some of the happiest persons in
the world if we truly believe that He carried away
our grief for us and bares our burdens. No
matter what situation we are in, we would have
peace knowing that God is with us, and will
never leave us nor forsake us. We would know
that God loves us and seeks our best interest.

The following is an example of little faith:

Matthew 8:23-27 KJV

And when he was entered into a ship, his
disciples followed him.
[24] And, behold, there arose a great tempest in
the sea, insomuch that the ship was covered
with the waves: but he was asleep.
[25] And his disciples came to him , and awoke
him, saying, Lord, save us: we perish.
[26] And he saith unto them, Why are ye fearful,
O ye of little faith? Then he arose, and rebuked
the winds and the sea; and there was a great
calm.
[27] But the men marvelled, saying, What
manner of man is this, that even the winds and
the sea obey him!

As the centurion judged, so it was in Truth and

even more. The winds, seas and all of nature
obeys the Creator, Jesus Christ.

If He created all things, isn't He able to create in

us a new heart and right spirit?

Isn't He able to save us to the uttermost?

Isn't He able to create in us, new passions and

new desires causing us to hate our old passions
and desires?

Also from this story, God demonstrates that

"Fear" is a sign of little to no faith at all. I am at
times in a doubtful mind to go out and witness. I
am also somewhat fearful of the unknown. But
fear is a demonstration of little faith. We need to
take hold of God's Promises that says, Lo, I am
with you always, even unto the ends of the
world.(Matt28:20) Behold I give you power to
tread upon serpents and scorpions and all the
power of the enemy but nothing shall by any
means hurt you.(Luke 10:19) I can do all things
through Christ who strengthens me.(Philippians
l4:13) Fear thou not for I am with thee, be not
dismayed for I am thy God, I will strengthen
thee, yay I will help thee, I will uphold thee with
the right hand of my righteousness.(Isaiah
41:10)

Some of us may say, "yes, they had great faith

in those Bible times. They were probably good
people so God answered their prayers." There
are many examples of Bible characters who
even participated in murder, like king David and
also the apostle Paul before his conversion. The
Bible goes even more extreme than to
demonstrate that God hears former murderers:

Matthew 8:28-32 KJV

And when he was come to the other side into
the country of the Gergesenes, there met him
two possessed with devils, coming out of the
tombs, exceeding fierce, so that no man might
pass by that way.
[29] And, behold, they cried out, saying, What
have we to do with thee, Jesus, thou Son of
God? art thou come hither to torment us before
the time?
[30] And there was a good way off from them an
herd of many swine feeding.
[31] So the devils besought him, saying, If thou
cast us out, suffer us to go away into the herd of
swine.
[32] And he said unto them, Go. And when they
were come out, they went into the herd of swine:
and, behold, the whole herd of swine ran
violently down a steep place into the sea, and
perished in the waters.

God cares so much about us, that in this faith

chapter of Matthew, Jesus who came to reveal
His Father to us, demonstrated that even the
request of demons were granted by Jesus. The
demons actually demonstrated faith because
they knew that it was according to God's Will
that they be cast out of the men. These demons,
knowing that Jesus is the Son of God, knowing
of His infinite Power, basically demonstrated
faith that He is able to perform that which He
came to do.

If the demons made a request to Jesus, and

Jesus granted it to them, Would Jesus refuse to
hear and to grant us our prayer requests if its
according to His Will?

The demons knew what Jesus had the ability to

do. The demons who hate Jesus, had their
request granted. Jesus demonstrated here that
He is Good to the just and the unjust.

James 2:14-26 KJV

What doth it profit, my brethren, though a man
say he hath faith, and have not works? can faith
save him?
[15] If a brother or sister be naked, and destitute
of daily food,
[16] And one of you say unto them, Depart in
peace, be ye warmed and filled; notwithstanding
ye give them not those things which are needful
to the body; what doth it profit?
[17] Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead,
being alone.
[18] Yea, a man may say, Thou hast faith, and I
have works: shew me thy faith without thy
works, and I will shew thee my faith by my
works.
[19] Thou believest that there is one God; thou
doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble.
[20] But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith
without works is dead?
[21] Was not Abraham our father justified by
works, when he had offered Isaac his son upon
the altar?
[22] Seest thou how faith wrought with his
works, and by works was faith made perfect?
[23] And the scripture was fulfilled which saith,
Abraham believed God, and it was imputed unto
him for righteousness: and he was called the
Friend of God.
[24] Ye see then how that by works a man is
justified, and not by faith only.
[25] Likewise also was not Rahab the harlot
justified by works, when she had received the
messengers, and had sent them out another
way?
[26] For as the body without the spirit is dead,
so faith without works is dead also.

1 John 5:4 KJV

For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the
world: and this is the victory that overcometh the
world, even our faith.

Consider Reading the following Chapters:

Hebrews 11, Matthew 8,9, and Psalms 37.

Can faith in an of itself save us?

Many have faith in themselves to do great
things. One can have faith that their car can get
them from point a to point b and it would. But
are these little things, the main reason that the
Bible teaches us about faith?

What is theme of the Bible? Is it not Jesus

Christ? Does the Bible not answer the question
of how we shall have eternal life?

Can we not safely say that the main reason that

the Bible teaches us about how to have faith, is
to exercise that Faith in Jesus Christ's Word and
what He has done for us? Even constant and
continuing faith?

How can we exercise faith/belief/trust in a life

saving way?

John 3:14-15 KJV

And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the
wilderness, even so must the Son of man be
lifted up:
[15] That whosoever believes in him should not
perish, but have eternal life.

Investigate this story of when Moses lifted up

the serpent in the wilderness:

Numbers 21:1-9 KJV

And when king Arad the Canaanite, which dwelt
in the south, heard tell that Israel came by the
way of the spies; then he fought against Israel,
and took some of them prisoners. [2] And Israel
vowed a vow unto the Lord , and said, If thou
wilt indeed deliver this people into my hand,
then I will utterly destroy their cities. [3] And the
Lord hearkened to the voice of Israel, and
delivered up the Canaanites; and they utterly
destroyed them and their cities: and he called
the name of the place Hormah. [4] And they
journeyed from mount Hor by the way of the
Red sea, to compass the land of Edom: and the
soul of the people was much discouraged
because of the way. [5] And the people spake
against God, and against Moses, Wherefore
have ye brought us up out of Egypt to die in the
wilderness? for there is no bread, neither is
there any water; and our soul loatheth this light
bread. [6] And the Lord sent fiery serpents
among the people, and they bit the people; and
much people of Israel died. [7] Therefore the
people came to Moses, and said, We have
sinned, for we have spoken against the Lord ,
and against thee; pray unto the Lord , that he
take away the serpents from us. And Moses
prayed for the people. [8] And the Lord said unto
Moses, Make thee a fiery serpent, and set it
upon a pole: and it shall come to pass, that
every one that is bitten, when he looketh upon it,
shall live. [9] And Moses made a serpent of
brass, and put it upon a pole, and it came to
pass, that if a serpent had bitten any man, when
he beheld the serpent of brass, he lived.

These fiery serpents were there in the

wilderness all along, as the children started to
complain against God and Moses, God
permitted the Fiery serpents to bite many of the
Israelites. The people when they saw the
breaking out of this plague of serpents, they ran
to moses, asking him to intercede, praying on
their behalf, that God take away the fiery
serpents. Many were already bitten and dying.
What was the solution? God told moses to form
and make a fiery serpent out of the material of
brass. Put it on top of a pole and God said to
moses to tell the children of Israel that whoever
looks upon that serpent, though they were
bitten, would live as long as they kept looking.
They were to look at the same thing on the pole
that bit them. That was the healing remedy.

How does it apply to us?

Romans 6:23 KJV

For the wages of sin is death; ..

2 Corinthians 5:21 KJV

For he hath made him to be sin for us, who
knew no sin; that we might be made the
righteousness of God in him.

Jesus Christ, according to the Scriptures,

became sin itself, though He never committed
one sin.

And He was lifted up on a cross for us to behold

Him. As we behold the consequences of sin,
and the fact that Jesus Christ is our Substitute
and Surety, we are healed when we believe that
report.

Isaiah 53:1 KJV

Who hath believed our report? and to whom is
the arm of the Lord revealed?

Also by beholding we become changed

according to 2Corinthians 3:18.

Isaiah 53:5-7,9 KJV

But he was wounded for our transgressions, he
was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement
of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes
we are healed. [6] All we like sheep have gone
astray; we have turned every one to his own
way; and the Lord hath laid on him the iniquity of
us all. [7] He was oppressed, and he was
afflicted, yet he opened not his mouth: he is
brought as a lamb to the slaughter, and as a
sheep before her shearers is dumb, so he
openeth not his mouth. [9] And he made his
grave with the wicked, and with the rich in his
death; because he had done no violence,
neither was any deceit in his mouth.

John 3:14-15 KJV

And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the
wilderness, even so must the Son of man be
lifted up:
[15] That whosoever believeth in him should not
perish, but have eternal life.

What is the effect of believing?

Philippians 4:4,8 KJV

Rejoice in the Lord alway: and again I say,
Rejoice.

We would continually be rejoicing and singing

praises to God.

[8] Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true,

whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever
things are just, whatsoever things are pure,
whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things
are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if
there be any praise, think on these things.

What is that Good report?

Matthew 8:15-17 KJV

And he touched her hand, and the fever left her:
and she arose, and ministered unto them.
[16] When the even was come, they brought
unto him many that were possessed with devils:
and he cast out the spirits with his word, and
healed all that were sick:
[17] That it might be fulfilled which was spoken
by Esaias the prophet, saying, Himself took our
infirmities, and bare our sicknesses.

John 12:37-40 KJV

But though he had done so many miracles
before them, yet they believed not on him:
[38] That the saying of Esaias the prophet might
be fulfilled, which he spake, Lord, who hath
believed our report? and to whom hath the arm
of the Lord been revealed?
[39] Therefore they could not believe, because
that Esaias said again,
[40] He hath blinded their eyes, and hardened
their heart; that they should not see with their
eyes, nor understand with their heart, and be
converted, and I should heal them.

Let us believe to the saving of our soul, that no

matter what we did in life, the Bible says that:

1 John 1:9 KJV

If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to
forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all
unrighteousness.
Psalm 37:3-7,23,37-40 KJV
Trust in the Lord , and do good; so shalt thou
dwell in the land, and verily thou shalt be fed.
[4] Delight thyself also in the Lord ; and he shall
give thee the desires of thine heart.
[5] Commit thy way unto the Lord ; trust also in
him; and he shall bring it to pass.
[6] And he shall bring forth thy righteousness as
the light, and thy judgment as the noonday.
[7] Rest in the Lord , and wait patiently for him:
fret not thyself because of him who prospereth
in his way, because of the man who bringeth
wicked devices to pass.
[23] The steps of a good man are ordered by the
Lord : and he delighteth in his way.
[37] Mark the perfect man , and behold the
upright: for the end of that man is peace.
[38] But the transgressors shall be destroyed
together: the end of the wicked shall be cut off.
[39] But the salvation of the righteous is of the
Lord : he is their strength in the time of trouble.
[40] And the Lord shall help them, and deliver
them: he shall deliver them from the wicked, and
save them, because they trust in him.

1 Peter 4:19 KJV

Wherefore let them that suffer according to the
will of God commit the keeping of their souls to
him in well doing, as unto a faithful Creator.

Romans 1:16-17 KJV

For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ:
for it is the power of God unto salvation to every
one that believeth; …
[17] For therein is the righteousness of God
revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The
just shall live by faith.

Romans 10:11,13-17 KJV

For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on
him shall not be ashamed.
[13] For whosoever shall call upon the name of
the Lord shall be saved.
[14] How then shall they call on him in whom
they have not believed? and how shall they
believe in him of whom they have not heard?
and how shall they hear without a preacher?
[15] And how shall they preach, except they be
sent? as it is written, How beautiful are the feet
of them that preach the gospel of peace, and
bring glad tidings of good things!
[16] But they have not all obeyed the gospel.
For Esaias saith, Lord, who hath believed our
report?
[17] So then faith cometh by hearing, and
hearing by the word of God.......

Hebrews 12:1-2 KJV

Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about
with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay
aside every weight, and the sin which doth so
easily beset us , and let us run with patience the
race that is set before us,
[2] Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of
our faith;..
Grace, mercy and peace be multiplied unto you,
