Pages: Quarter 4 – Week 4 – Module 4

Materials: powerpoint presentation

III. Procedure

A. Preliminary Activities

1. Motivation

Look at the pictures. What are the uses of these instruments?

B. Presentation

Weather affects our daily activities, our health, the clothes we wear,
and people occupations.

C. Discussion

A thermometer is used to measure temperature. A room thermometer

has numbers on each side. Air temperature is read in degrees Fahrenheit (˚F)
and degrees Celsius (˚C).
Temperature is the hotness and coldness of air around us. It differs from
place to place and from time to time. The angle at which the sun’s rays strike
the surface affects the temperature of a place.
Wind also affects the weather. Wind is the moving air over Earth’s
surface.

A wind vane is a device that tells the direction of the wind.

An anemometer measures wind speed. There are four cups mounted on

arms attached to a rotating shaft.

A windsock can show both the wind speed and wind direction. The wind
sock rotates on a pole and shows the direction of the wind.

D. Application

Face the windvane in the wall fan.

Turn on the wall fan. Let it move. Increase the speed.
Ask the pupils about their observations.

E. Enrichment Activity

Directions: Choose the letter of the correct answer.
