INTRODUCTION
The Sport and Games club at Bishop Anstey and Trinity College East Sixth Form was
founded by Anaya Felix (President) and Omar Harinnan (Vice President) last year (2022).
Initially, this club was created to strengthen their friendship by making it entertaining.
However, as time went on, the true aim of this club was established because it became more
popularized. It aims to bring inclusivity, happiness, and enjoyment, to not just Sixth Form but
the entirety of Bishop Anstey High School East and Trinity College East. These extra-
curricular activities help students relax, take their mind off work, de-stress, and cope with the
demanding life of school, all while being active and engaged with sports and games.
Overtime, the Sports and Games Club (SGC) has taken the school by storm creating an
environment that is more welcoming and inclusive, no matter differences. This club has
allowed students to bond over many different activities, for example football, mainly by
teamwork.

Although this club has been flourishing, many issues have arisen causing large numbers of
dissatisfied members to be produced. Due to this, an investigation was conducted, and it was
concluded that, although there are multiple reasons for the rise of apathetic members, the
main reason noted was because of the inconsistency of games and activities in the club. This
problem impacts members both financially and psychologically. Firstly, for these activities to
be conducted, each member is required to pay a minimum of $5.00 every two weeks.
However, despite members’ contributions, the lack of activities continues. Secondly, many
students generally join clubs at educational institutions because it provides an outlet for them
to release their stress and have fun, through games/activities. Furthermore, based on a study
conducted by Adam R. Nicholls, Dave Collins, and Joanna Polman, entitled “An Exploration
of Commitment to Sport in Young Athletes” it was determined that one of the main factors
that contribute to youths’ dedication to sports is the consistency of activities. Reflecting on
this, the main role of the sports and games club at BATCE is to help students relieve stress
while allowing them to explore their passion in sports and games. Despite this, the
inconsistency continues. Hence, with their being a weak point in that aspect of the club, the
members' dedication will be heavily impacted. Therefore, this research study is an
investigation into the inconsistency of games/activities in Bishop Anstey High School East
and Trinity College East (BATCE) Sixth Form Sports and Games Club and its impact on the
members' commitment in the club.
