GUNDECHA EDUCATION ACADEMY, KANDIVALI

TEST SERIES TERM 1 – 2023-2024

CLASS XI

Date: 20-06-2023
Dear Parents & Students,
Greetings!

The classes for the academic year 2023 are in full swing from 5th April 2023. It could not have
been possible without the dedication and perseverance of our teachers as well as the
wholehearted support of our dear students who exhibited commendable zeal and participation.
We are glad to inform you that a considerable portion of the curriculum has been completed by
the subject teachers. Therefore, it is vital to assess the quantum of learning that has transpired in
this span of time.
Thus, we have planned to conduct the Test Series Term 1, which will be assessed as a
Marked Assignment for our students.
The students who have taken admission till Friday, 21st April 2023, Test Series Term 1
Marked Assignment will begin for them on Tuesday, 4th July 2023.
However, for the students who have taken admission on and from 22nd April, 2023, a
separate round of Test Series Term 1 Marked Assignment will be conducted at a later date.
The details about the assignments to be conducted for them will be shared with you by the
first week of August. The Portion for the same will be shared along with the schedule.
The Marked assignments in the form of Open Book Assignments will be an ongoing process.
In an Open Book Assignment, application-based questions will be set, with the understanding
that the students will be able to search for answers in their textbooks.
Objectives of Marked Open Book Assignment:
● It is our endeavour to help our students do more research in order to find the answers theyare
looking for a process that challenges their critical thinking and leads to a richer learning
experience. As a bonus, our students will gain some useful practical knowledge in how to
effectively search for information, assimilate and interpret aspects from the text.
● The word evaluation, assessment, test etc. often creates a sense of fear amongst the children. It
is our endeavour to erase any kind of performance pressure. Our focus will be to assess how
much the child has been able to understand the concepts taught.
● We will be keeping a record of the marks in order to gauge the improvement levels of the
child.
● It will help the students to practise writing answers within a limited time frame.
● The purpose of these assessments is also to use these tests as a diagnostic tool for the
teachers to assess the depth and clarity of learning and devise further courses of action.

Role of parents/Guardians to assist us in the process:

Let our children understand that the Parents and the Teachers are allies in the process of
assessment.

❖ Supervise- Parental supervision is required at all times.

❖ Creating a conducive study environment at home.
❖ Please offer gentle encouragement and motivate the children to study.
❖ It is important to assure the child that you are there for him/her and that you will support
them irrespective of his/her result.
❖ Inspire them to learn novel elements related to learning with friendly reminders and
guidance.
❖ Encourage the child to Read- Reading the lessons is one of the best ways of learning.
This not only improves their vocabulary but invokes interest in them to read more. Let
them read through each of the topics in the textbook. They can use their notebooks to do
written practise.
❖ Please have friendly discussions at home that cover their lessons and assist them in
revising their subjects.
❖ Schedule: Please help the child to develop a study schedule
❖ Teach Study Skills- Please teach the child how to break down overall tasks into
smaller, manageable chunks so that preparing for an assessment is not overwhelming.
You can also introduce your child to tricks like mnemonic devices to help with recalling
information. Please remember that taking a break after a 45-minute study period is
an important way to help the children to process and remember information.

We wish our students good luck for the upcoming marked assignments.

Thank you.

GEAK Sec & H. Sec Team.
