How to Activate the RSA ECAT License

This document will walk through the steps for downloading and activating your RSA ECAT license. You
should receive two separate emails from RSA: one contains your RSA Download Central Login ID and
temporary password, and the second contains your Product License Serial number.

Note: If you’re an existing RSA customer, the email with the Login ID will not contain a temporary
password. You should use your existing RSA Download Central password or have your password reset
on the login page.

Once you download the ECAT 3.3.5 file, there will be a zip file containing the ECAT software and
documentation (including Release Notes & ECAT User Guide). Be sure to read the Release Notes and
ECAT User Guide, which outline the prerequisites that must be installed before installing the ECAT
software. Below are the steps in the User Guide that you’ll need to complete to activate the ECAT
license (which is when you’ll receive the Computer ID).

sells the Bit9 license, and OPSWAT
and HitmanPro (by SurfRight) can be
purchased directly from the

Once the necessary steps are completed, you’ll receive this screen:

This is the “Computer


ID” that you’ll need
to submit on RSA
Download Central

Return to the RSA Download Central site, navigate to the screen below and enter the License Code into
the Computer ID line.

After submitting, you’ll receive the following notification:

You will receive an email notification from RSA Download Central, and will need to log back in using your
Login ID, Password, and Product Serial Number. Navigate back to this screen:

Once the license key is downloaded and saved to the ECAT/Server subdirectory, relaunch the ECAT
console server and confirm the product is correctly activated. Return to page 45 of the ECAT User Guide
and continue with the product installation and configuration.
