There are different ways to use language. When you say exactly what you mean,
you are using literal language. But sometimes you want to express your meaning in a
more colorful or imaginative way. This is figurative language. When you use figurative
language. you are not saying exactly what you mean. For example, it you have just
gone running in the middle of the summer, you might say:
