"Cesar Vallejo"
Born: March sixteen, one thousand eight hundred ninety-two, Santiago de Chuco.
Peruvian poet, one of the great figures of Latin American poetry of the twentieth century.
Vallejo is considered one of the greatest poets in Latin America, whose work is studied in
universities worldwide.
Of mestizo and provincial origin, he studied secondary education at the Colegio de San
Nicolás (Huamachuco). In one thousand nine hundred fifteen, after obtaining a bachelor's
degree in literature, he began studying Philosophy and Letters at the University of Trujillo
and Law at the University of San Marcos (Lima), but abandoned his studies to set up as a
teacher in Trujillo. In 1918 César Vallejo published his first collection of poems: Los heraldos
