The Effects of Teaching Methods and Behavior on Student Learning

To what extent does the attitude and methodology of the teaching staff affect student’s
learning, motivation, and attitude during the COVID-19 restrictions?

During the COVID-19 pandemic, a great deal of the methodology used in the schooling process relies

heavily on the manner employed by the teacher to provide education tailored for students, and both teachers

and students will need to adapt their respective teaching and learning methods to meet the new psychological

and physical factors.

This study contains scientific research about different teaching methods, human behavior components

and how students respond to them. It will include childhood early learning and its many different facets, leading

to the main topic which is “The Effects of Teaching Methods and Behavior on Student Learning”.

The overall studies are focused on student behavior to understand the influence and impact that a

teacher’s attitude and teaching method can have on students, which brought up the question, “To what extent

does the attitude and methodology of the teaching staff affect student’s learning, motivation, and attitude

during the COVID-19 restrictions?” Considering the bias since this study is written from an individual’s

perspective.

Because this study involves human reactions, actions, and behavior in general, the disciplines of TOK

(Theory of Knowledge) and psychology will be used for this research. The scope of this study falls within the

field of psychology, mainly learning behaviors and styles, as well as education psychology and motivation

theories. It will focus on youth in a school environment for students in the age group of 3 to 16 years.

The research for this study will cover all relevant materials, both written and audiovisual, in relation to

human learning and teaching behavior, and the psychology involved with supplementary sources such as

academic reports, and mainly the study “Health-Related Behaviors Among School-Aged Children and

Adolescents During the Spanish Covid-19 Confinement” (Rubén López-Bueno, et al., September 2020) which

covers the physical and psychological factors relevant to this question. Other sources such as studies and

books that refer to the topic at hand will also be included.

The methodology is qualitative, most of the data was obtained from many consulted resources. Surveys

and statistical data from secondary sources will be analyzed and used in supporting and answering the

question subject-matter of this essay.
