stood like statues all around me, people in cars, men on bicycles, all lifeless, frozen in time.
I am Hussein Mohmmad, I'm a
student of The American university in Cairo. One day my friend Hossam said to our colleagues we have to spend our vacation in Canada.
I said Why?
He said because our university
gives permissions to its students to travel to All North American countries.
I said really! But why canada?
He said: Actually I want to fight
with swords there, especially when there's a festival and all people are going to join it and I like it a lot.
I said but we don't like swords
and we can't use them.
Elena said: let's try something
special and Mostafa said: yes we want to change our routine. I looked at the rest of my colleagues and I saw the approval on their faces.
Elena said Fortunately my dad
has a big bus there and we can use it to drive around the city.
My friend Abdallah said but we
can take uber.
I said: how can we take uber
and our colleagues are forty colleagues, and it will be extremely expensive.
I asked Elena while we were
going home What was your father's bus used for?
Elena: My dad was using it for
making hot drinks and hot soup.
It can make five thousand cups
and also 5 thousand bowls of soup.
I said How?'' She said it's a
very big bus and it was made for this job.
I said to her: can we use it?
Elena: Yes we will use it for our trip. I said no: I mean can we use it for selling hot drinks and soup. She said: Oh wow, actually I will call my friend Amanda there to prepare it.
But if she refuses, what should
we do?
I said to her: How long does it
take to prepare?
Elena: it takes about a week.
I said: I will tell our colleagues
to stay at the airport hotel for a week to finish preparing the bus. Elena but it needs a lot of money! I said: I will prepare the money, don't worry, but how much should I pay for preparing the bus,
Elena: ten thousand dollars.
I: Oh my God. It's extremely
expensive but I will prepare the money.
Elena: If you give me the
money today I will convince my friend Amanda to do this job. I: ``It's great to take this credit card and send the money to your friend by Western Union.
After 2 weeks we prepared the
tickets and we went to the Cairo airport and took a wonderful plane to Canada.
I can't describe what a
wonderful journey it was.
We arrived in Toronto after ten
hours and stayed at the hotel all night.
While my colleagues were
playing with each other, I was arranging everything on the bus with Elena and Amanda.
After we finished we returned
to the hotel and while we were walking, suddenly Elena had a call with her parents and she had to return home. As something happened, I didn't know it.
After two days we got on the
bus, after Amanda finished everything.
The weather was very cold,
and we thought that it was going to snow. All my friends were wearing light clothes, but I was wearing heavy clothes.
I was drinking hot chocolate.
and hot drinks all the time, but they didn't like to try it.
They were laughing at me
because I was very cold, but they were enjoying the snow. We went to sleep. But when I woke up, I watched something very difficult.
Everyone around me was
frozen, they couldn't speak and move, they were like statues. Everything stopped and I ran to the driver, but he looked like them. I opened the door and I was shocked because of the view. Everyone in the city was frozen.
I was thinking and finally I got a
plan.
What I have to do is to help my
friends who are with me in my car, and they can help me after they get well.
I thought that we can help the
whole city and survive them. I ran everywhere and I was asking for help with a loud voice. But I didn't find any. I ran again and I was crying and thinking.
I fell to the ground and I found
firewood that was used before to warm the people who were staying here. And finally I got an idea and it was I have to go and collect firewood. But how? I thought and finally I remembered that we have swords which we bought from Toronto for a festival. I was searching for a forest and finally I found one from a far distance.
I ran to it and I started to collect
the firewood by cutting them from the trees using my sword.
I thanked my God, because we
brought the swords to fight with it.
I collected the firewood and Iit
the fire and started to warm my colleagues and gave them hot drinks and bowls of soup.
I was so lucky because I had 5
thousand cups and also five thousand bowls and I could fill it with hot drinks and soup that I prepared with Amanda and Elena to sell.
My colleagues started to feel
better and I gave them bowls of soup.
I said to them, guys we have to
survive all the city.
Hossam said: what are you
saying? We have to go home now, we don't know what those people are. And what's gonna happen to us again. I said: listen guys carefully,
I helped you and I also
survived all of you. If you want to leave, leave now and don't forget who brought you back to life. God who brings you.
Not me, we are Egyptian
people and they don't forget to help and I will say it again, Egyptians don't forget to help.
I will go now and who wants to
leave, Let him go and who wants to stay, let's welcome him. Hossam cried and said I agree with you, you're right.
More than 5 hundred
households lost power and some mobile phone connections and we found all people in the city were opening their houses and asking for help as all the heaters were turned off because of the loss of power. Also people in cars and buses were asking for help.
We ran to the forest again and
started to cut the trees and make firewood. After we collected a lot of firewood we went to each home and put the firewood into the fireplace in their people's houses.
We gave them hot drinks and
bowls of soup.
All people left their houses
after they became well and they started to help us to survive the people in cars, and buses.
We carried them to the
people's houses and we did the same thing with them. After 7 hours the sun rose and the power came and we survived by the ambulances which came from Toronto.
We were awarded by the
President of Canada for our big achievements and they made a big sign board for us at the beginning of the city.
It was Forty Angeles who came
from Egypt and survived the whole city. They wrote our name under even a photo of us and also wrote our country Egypt.
After we returned to our home
in Egypt, I called Elena and said to her what happened to you, what's matter.
She said my parents told me
that it would be very cold after two days and it would snow a lot, it may have caused a lot of problems.
