Cargo AUDI A —— 6950 —— 4 Always observe the following sequence when replacing an air- bag uni = 1 - Remove old airbag unit and place down with padding facing upwards; with head airbag observe procedure for head airbag > Page 69-85 ~ 2- Take new airbag unit from transport container and store with padding facing upwards; with head airbag observe proce dure for head airbag => Page (9-55 ~ 3 - Immediately place old airbag unit into transport container. ~ 4 - Install new airbag unit into vehicle. $ The airbag units should be installed immediately after removing them from their transport containers. ¢ If work is interruptes, the sirbag unit should be replaced in its transport container, $ The airbag units must not be left unattended. — 651 — ¢ Airbag units which have been removed must stored with the padding facing upwards with exception of head airbag = > Page 59-58 ¢ Airbag units which are dropped on a hard surface or are dam- aged must not be used. 4 The airbag unit must not be treated with grease, cleaning agents of similar, and must not, even for a short time, be ex- posed to temperatures above 100 °C. $ Airbag units which were not triggered must be marked and be sent back to mafiufacturer for disposal (use transport contain. ers for airbag units): © mromonay cpa Coing groan puyaienn pater te 7k Tut respot on orscmeae feminine dota Copy by AUD —— 6952 —— Additional safety precautions for side airbag 4 The side airbags are subject to the same safety precautions as the driver's and front passenger's airbags as well as the follow- ing. 4 @ Only fit genuine seat and backrest covers approved for use by AUDI AG with side airbag (can be seen from airbag label at- tached on cover -1-). 4 No extra covers should be fitted over the backresis, as this would impair the function of the side airbags. + Seat cushions, mats or similar which would impair the function of the seat occupied sensor and airbags must not be used. No Seat-occupied sensor mat is not fitted in driver's seat. + In vehicles with no seat heating, the seats are fitted with dummy seat heating olemonts theating element with no wire, 4 The foam upholstery in the backrest must not be cut away in the vicinity of the side airbag. —— 6953 —— 4 The side airbag units have an expiry date sticker (sticker on passenger side near 8-pillar). If side airbag unis are replaced, remove airbag expiry date sticker from the new unit and stick it over the old one on S-pillar. When installing, all upholstery staples must be fitted in the same positions as the original ones. # Always renew backrest upholstery after side airbag has been triggered. 4 All damaged components must be replaced after an accident.
