    The Babylonian civilization emerged along the Tigris and Euphrates Rivers in Mesopotamia. Hammurabi ruled Babylon from 1792-1750 BCE and established one of the earliest codes of law. In the 6th century BCE, Nebuchadnezzar II ruled Babylon and is credited with building the Hanging Gardens of Babylon, one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World, to please his Median wife who missed the hills of her homeland. While their exact location is unknown, the Hanging Gardens were an ascending series of tiered gardens built with remarkable engineering feats to contain trees, shrubs and vines in the arid climate.

    ▫️Babylonian Civilization emerged near the Tigris and


    Euphrates Rivers.
    ▫️The word “Babylon” is Akkadian “Babilani” which means
    “The Gate of Gods”
    ▫️Hammurabi ruled Babylon from 1792-1750 BCE.
    ▫️In 605-562 Nebuchadnezzar II ruled the Babylonia.
    ▫️The Babylonians we’re great builders, engineers,
    and architects.
    THE HANGING
    GARDENS OF
    BABYLON
    ▪️The Hanging Gardens of Babylon were one of the Seven Wonders of the
    ancient world. And the only whose location has not been definitely establishe.

    ▪️Built by King Nebuchadnezzar II in 600 BC. The gardens are believed


    to have been a remarkable feat of engineering: an ascending series of
    tiered gardens containing all manners of trees, shrubs and vines.
    ▪️According to one legend, Nebuchadnezzar II built the Hanging
    Gardens for his median wife Queen Amytis, because she missed
    the green hills and valleys of her homeland.

    ▪️Because of the lack of evidence it has been suggested that


    the Hanging Gardens are purely mythical.
