ACKNOWLEDGEMENT

We would like to express utmost respect and deep sense of gratitude to DR.SYEDA GAUHAR FATIMA,
Principal, who has given us an opportunity to undertake this major project on “NETWORK TRAFFIC
ANALYSIS USING BIGDATA AND DEEP LEARNING” and for providing us with the conductive
environment and excellent infrastructure for carrying through our academic schedules and projects with ease.

We are also deeply indebted to DR. SYED RAZIUDDIN, Head of the department, Computer Science
Engineering, for his never ending encouragement and assistance in the evaluation of materials and facts. I
sincerely oblige his guidance and support.

We are also grateful to Mrs Sara Tabassum, Internal guide for providing seamless knowledge and also for
valuable suggestions, advice, guidance and constructive ideas at every phase of the development of our
project.

We convey our heartfelt thanks to our Parents, Technical and Non-Technical staff of the college for their
constant support in the successful completion of the project.

We sincerely acknowledge all those who gave their support directly or indirectly in completion of this work.

ABSTRACT

Today the world is experiencing a rapid revolution in the field of information

technology, several apparatus and devices generate data and exchange them through
the network, these exchanges are not generally secured, they may contain hidden
new attacks and intrusions undetectable by the existing tools of security. In addition,
the increasing volume and the variety of data of these exchanges make the detection
of the menaces more difficult.
To solve these problems, we propose in this project, a new idea of network traffic
analysis based on gathering large data of traffic of the network using Big Data
frameworks, and analyzing it with Deep Learning techniques in order to identify new
invisible threats.

Keywords-Big Data, Deep Learning, Traffic Analysis, Network Intrusion, Intrusion

Detection System, Denial of service, User to Root attacks, Remote User attacks, Local Area
Network, Principal Component Analysis, Support Vector Machine, Random Forest,
Decision Tree, KNN Algorithm, Logistic Regression, Alerts, False Positives, False
