What are D-Potencies?

The name D potency is a shortcut for decimal potency and implicates the dilution of the
homeopathic remedy. Decimal potencies are diluted in a ratio of 1:10 in each production
step. Therefore, D potencies are the "weakest" homeopathic remedies.

Production of Homeopathic D-Potencies

D potencies are produced using the multi-vial method, which means the vial that's used to
dynamize the remedy is tossed after each step of production. At Remedia all D-potencies
are succussed by hand. D-potencies are mixed in a ratio of 1:10, and then dynamized by 10
strong shakes on an elastic body (for example a book, bound in leather) or by grinding the
original substance with lactose.

That is:
1 drop mother tincture + 9 drops water/alcohol are sucussed 10 times.
1 drop of this mixture is extracted, poured into a new and unused glass bottle, diluted with 9
drops water/alcohol and succused 10 times (=dynamized) => D2
1 drop of this mixture is extraced, poured into a new and unused glass bottle, diluted with 9
drops water/alcohol and succused 10 times (=dynamized) => D3
This procedure is repeated as often as necessary to receive the desired potency level.

The dilution is then used to moisten blank pellets and thereby transfer the active ingredients
to the sugar pellets. To produce globules, saccharose pellets size 3 (described in the HAB)
are used. This equates to approx. 120 pellets per gram.

What are C-Potencies?

The name C-potency is a shortcut for centisimal potency and implicates the dilution of the
homeopathic remedy. Centisimal potencies are diluted in a ratio of 1:100.

Production of C-Potencies

C potencies are produced using the multi-vial method, which means the vial that's used to
dynamize the remedy is tossed after each production step. At Remedia all C-potencies are
succussed by hand in a ratio of 1:100 with 10 strong schakes on an elastic body or by
grinding the original substance with lactose.

In simple words:
1 drop mother tincture + 99 drops water/alcohol are sucussed 10 times.
1 drop of this mixture is extracted, poured into a new and unused glass bottle, diluted with
99 drops water/alcohol and succused 10 times (=dynamized) => C2
1 drop of this mixture is extracted, poured into a new and unused glass bottle, diluted with
99 drops water/alcohol and succused 10 times (=dynamized) => C3

C3-Trituration (C3-Trit.)

When C potencies are produced, potencies up to C6 are usually potentised by trituration

and after that liquids are potentised. With C3-Trit. liquid potentising starts already at a C3.

Manufacturing Process of LM-Potenzen

Like Q–potencies, these remedies are quinquagintamillesimal (50 000) potencies. However,
there are significant differences in regards to preparation and administration.

Main differences:

 the use of globules size 1 (500 pcs/gr)

 the original substance for C1 – C2 potencies is mostly an alcoholic extract in the
form of a mother tincture*
 the C3-trituration is not prepared according to Hahnemann, because it is not
triturated, but only mixed and dried (trituration of liquid drug substances).

LM-potencies Production

1: 50 000 dilution

 First a C3-trituration is prepared (method depending on the original substance) and

then dissolved in 15% (m/m) alcohol in a ratio of 1:500 for the preparation of the
LM1- potency.
 Then 1 drop of this solution is diluted with 86% (m/m) alcohol in a ratio of 1:100 and
shaken vigorously 100 times.
 Next globules are medicated with the solution in a ratio of 1:500 and dried.
 By the sequence of dilution steps a ratio of 1:50 000 is reached like in the case of Q-
potencies. This is the first potency level of this scale, i.e. LM1.

Production of further potency levels

Manufacturing further potency levels does not differ from that of Q–potencies. Yet, for
reasons of completeness they have been listed below.

 In order to prepare an LM2-dilution 1 LM1-globule is dissolved in 1 drop of water.

 Then the solution is mixed with 100 drops of 86% (m/m) alcohol and vigorously
shaken 100 times.
 Next globules size 1 (500pcs/gr) are medicated with the solution in a ratio of 1:500
and dried.
 Again these dilution steps result in a ratio of 1:50 000.

Further potency levels are manufactured in the same way.

Globules and dilutions

Although LM–potencies are taken directly as globules in most cases, it may be necessary to
dissolve these globules and prepare LM-dilutions.

 For the preparation of liquid LM-potencies globules of the potency level required are
dissolved in 15% (m/m) ethanol in a ratio of 1:10 (1 globule in 10ml ethanol).

The potency level of the solution is the same as the potency level of the dissolved globules.

*In regards to the type of the original substance, there are different possibilities in the case
of LM–potencies. In the simplest case the original substance is a herbal mother tincture,
which cannot be triturated in the conventional sense. In this case certain adaptions for a
1:50 000 dilution are necessary, e.g. as is the case for Q-potencies. The mother tincture is
potentised, you get a C1 and C2 potency as usual and the C3-trituration is prepared from
the liquid drug substance, i.e. mixed and dried, which is no procedure according to
Hahnemann. The further procedure does not differ from that of Q-potencies. In this context
the fact that an LM-potentisation of triturations according to Hahnemann can also be done is
particularly confusing. In this case there is only a difference as regards the size of the
globules but not as regards the preparation of the original substance.

What are Q-Potencies?

The manufacturing process of these remedies (quinquagintamillesimal potencies) is based on the

experiences Hahnemann made later in his life. The production process is defined in
the Organon, 6th edition, §270.

The essential fact is the use of microglobules, also called globules size 0 (1,000 pcs/gr). In this
context Hahnemann spoke of sugar globules the size of poppy seeds and the method of the C3-
trituration of fresh plants.

Production Process of Q-Potencies

1: 50 000 dilution according to the HAB HV59

 First a C3-trituration is prepared – each step takes 1 hour. For the preparation of a Q1-
potency it is then dissolved in a ratio of 1:500 in 15% (m/m) alcohol.
 Then 1 drop of this solution is diluted with 86% (m/m) alcohol in a ratio of 1:100 and
shaken vigorously 100 times (not 10 times as in the case of D- and C-potencies).
 500 microglobules (globules size 0) are medicated with 1 drop of this solution and dried
in the open air.
 By this sequence of dilution steps a ratio of 1:50 000 is reached, which is the first
potency level of this scale, i.e. Q1.

For the preparation of further potency levels slightly changed procedures are required, which is a
difference to D- and C-potencies.

 In order to prepare a Q2-dilution a Q1-globule is dissolved in a drop of water.

 Then the solution is mixed with 100 drops of 86% (m/m) alcohol and vigorously shaken
100 times.
 Next microglobules are medicated with the solution in a ratio of 1:500 and dried.
 Again, these dilution steps result in a ratio of 1:50 000.

Further potency levels

Further potency levels are prepared the same way. Most times, Q-potencies are not taken
directly. It is necessary to dissolve globules of these potencies and prepare Q-dilutions.

>> For the preparation of liquid Q-potencies, globules are dissolved in 15% (m/m) ethanol in a
ratio of 1:10 (1 globule in 10ml ethanol).

The potency level of the solution is the same as the potency level of the dissolved globules.

How to take Q-Potencies

Please note that Q-potencies usually are taken by dissolving them in water/alcohol, and not by
ingesting the pellet itself. On rare occasions a medical professional may advise to take one
globule per mouth, otherwise please follow the instructions below.

When a Q-potency has been prescribed, our laboratory dissolves one globule in an amber glass
bottle as described in the HAB. It is filled to the brim, so any unintentional dynamisation during
transport is prevented. Before taking the remedy the patient has to pour out 1/3 of the liquid. The
remaining solution has to be shaken 10 times before taking. This process has to be repeated each
time before taking the remedy.

To better preserve the remedy, and guarantee an easy flow through the dropper, alcohol is used
for the solution instead of water.
Correct Technique to dissolve and take Q-Potencies

The therapist advises the patient when, how

often and how many drops they have to take.

1 globule needs to be dissolved in 100ml of a 15%

ethanol-water-mixture.
For correct dosage follow the instructions below
(or follow your therapist’s instructions).

Prior to the first administration:

1/3 of the mixture has to be poured out, so the

remaining liquid can be shaken properly. Shaking
is absolutely necessary!

First administration

A plastic cup has to be filled 2/3 (ca. 0,2l-0,3l) witth cold tap water/bottled water (do not use
carbonated water!). Pour the number of drops prescribed by the homeopathic doctor into the cup. Stir
the solution 10 times with a plastic spoon. Take 1 teaspoonful of this solution.
Discard the remaining solution. Rinse the cup and spoon with hot water. The cup and spoon are not to
be cleaned in the dishwasher or together with other dishes!
All further administrations
1. Strike the remedy bottle 10 times on an item, e.g. a book (succussion).
2. Pour the number of drops prescribed by your doctor into the water-filled cup you have already
used (see first administration). Stir the solution 10 times, take a teaspoonful and pour out the rest.
3. Then rinse the cup and spoon (see first administration).

After taking the last dose

After treatment, the spoon, cup and remedy need to

be disposed of.
In case another remedy is prescribed, a new cup
and spoon have to be used.

of LM-Potencies. In the simplest case, the original substance is a herbal mother tincture, which
cannot be triturated conventionally. In this case certain adaptions for a 1:50 000 dilution are

Korsakovian Potentizer

K-Potenzen Definition

The most common form of therapy in classical homeopathy uses potencies up to C200.
Both acute and chronic illnesses can be treated by these potencies. In more difficult cases,
multiple high potencies far above C200 are necessary, which cannot however be prepared
by hand as their production would take too long.

In cases where higher potencies are needed our pneumatic muscle by FESTO can support
our work. The central unit of the Korsakoff-equipment is the muscle MAS, which simulates
the manual succushing. "Most important criteria for the development is to avoid electro-
magnetic fields. To ensure effectiveness the potentizing procedure should be as quick as
possible - therefore the pneumatic muscle solves the problem ideally" according to the
designer.

Each contraction lasts for a quarter of a second, this means 250 beats per minute. It is
essential during this potentizing process that an even keel of blows is brought into the fluid.
It is obvious that such a process done by human hand there would be physical fatigue. The
intensity of succussion shows the energy that is release. A car crash with injuries has got an
acceleration of 40g, to compare in manual laboratory potentizing 40 -80g would be reached.
Our machine by comparison reaches 500g.

Pneumatic potentizing

Every step of mechanical movement is furthered by compressed air. Four bottles are
grouped together to a unit, a pneumatic muscle creates a circular movement, the arm pivots
up and down at 30 degrees. The end of this arm the bottles can be found in a receptacle,
which is shaken 10 times against a stable base. During this stage of potentizing the content
of the bottles is diluted step by step: After the automatic opening the bottles are turned over
and about 99% of the content flows out. A hundredth is left on the inner surface of the
bottle. Hereby the remaining drops are removed by vacuum suction. The remaining fluid is
diluted by an injection of purified water ration 1:99. The pumping action is taken over by
glass cylinders.

Human focus

Although the use of pneumatic power has proven to be efficient, manpower is still the most
effective way of potentizing. REMEDIA owner Robert Müntz states: "We are committed to
prepare homeopathic remedies from scratch, we only use machine power in justifiable
cases as the human touch should not be missed in homeopathy"

What is a Trituration?

The process of trituration in homeopathy

The first process for manufacturing remedies is called trituration. To make a centesimal
trituration (C potency), the substance is weighed, and lactose is added in a 99times ratio to
its weight. After which a porcelain mortar is filled with one third of the lactose and is rubbed
evenly on the surface with a pestle. This is carried out to "close" the pores of the porcelain
bowl, so that no remnants of the substance can get stuck to the side and therefore not be
included in this process.

After this, the medical substance is added and rubbed vigorously for 6 minutes
anticlockwise. (Left handed people would go clockwise). Hereupon, likewise, a sterile
porcelain spatula is used to scratch the whole medicine into the middle of the bowl and is
freed from any excess material.

If a whole part of a plant is to be used in this process, then it is homogenized with the
lactose 1:1 , further, this mixture is taken and mixed 2 parts with 98 parts of the lactose ,
and is potentized in the aforementioned procedure.

The ideal total amount of lactose, according to experience, is usually around 8 grams,
judging by a mortar diameter of approx 12 cm. In our Laboratory we do not dispense
trituration batches larger than this.

Once more the mixture is crushed for 6 minutes and scraped for 4 minutes. After this first
third is completed, the second third is added to the lactose and the whole rig moral is
repeated once more; 6 minutes crushing, 4 minutes scratching. After some twenty minutes
have elapsed in this manner, the C1 Trituration has been completed.

We carry out this procedure solely by hand, as the quality of the medical product is
therefore considerably higher.
For the same reason, no machines are used to produce these medicines.

When machines are used there is a noteworthy amount of residue (Vulkolatex or Beech
wood) from the grater worked into the mixture, also the appliance tends to leave this residue
"caked" onto the side of the mortar.

Fresh plant Triturating - C3

This process is described in rule § 270 of the Organon Textbook 6, and it has considerable
advantages compared to the mother tincture:

 As they contain no water they are considerably longer lasting

 All ingredients are at hand
 The energy expenditure during the triturating process is substantially higher than
during the production the mother tincture.

This is also the motivation for potentizing C- medications based on a C3 trituration, which
produces a more authentic medication. whose healing powers are decidedly stronger.

Massimo Mangialavori confirms, that his success rate has increased by 30% since using C3
Triturated C-potencies.

In homeopathy, "potency" is the degree of dilution of the remedy.

The letter indicates the dilution ratio under which the potency series is produced, while the
Arabic numeral indicates the number of potency steps.

For example, the decimal potency D4 has been diluted four times in a ratio of 1:10 and has
been dynamized by 10 shaking strokes at each step.

C-potencies, (centesimal, from Latin centum for 100) are processed in the ratio 1:100.

LM-potencies and Q-potencies are potentiated in steps of 50,000.

(LM Quinquaginta Mille, 50,000 in roman numbers in multiplication notation Q
Quinquagintamillesimal potency = 50,000)

As the number of potentiation steps increases, the content of the initial substance in the
remedy decreases, but its energetic value is increased by repeated dynamization.

The most common potency levels in homeopathy are called standard potencies. Mostly
these are remedies in the potencies: C12, C30, C200, C1000 as well as D12, D30, D200.

Helios production of remedies

Material Sources

The bulk of our mother tinctures are obtained from qualified and reputable Homeopathic
tincture suppliers. The original plants are wild or organically grown and are prepared in
tincture form while they are still fresh. They are made according to either the German or
French Homeopathic Pharmacopoeias. Non organic materials (chemicals, minerals, drugs
etc) are made from the original substance where possible, which has been certified by the
supplier as to its make-up and purity and then prepared according to pharmacopoeia
instructions.

Potentisation

Our methods of potentisation use trituration procedures as laid down in Hahnemann's 5th
and 6th edition of the Organon and our centessimal potencies are always made in 90%
alcohol using a minimum of 20 firm hand succussions for each step. We succuss proved
remedies by hand up to 200c and to 12x in the decimal scale.

High Potencies

In 1994 after two years of research and development, Helios was proud to be the first
British company to have its own high potency succussion machine. To make a high
potency by hand would take weeks or months and is extremely labour intensive. In
designing the Helios potentiser we have adhered as closely as possible to the human arm
action of dilution and succussion "against a hard but elastic object" (aphorism 270) as per
Hahnemann's instructions. The machine repeatedly empties and refills in a single vial
(Korsakov method) until the desired potency is reached, the whole process being
computer-controlled to ensure stability and accuracy. A constant supply of highly
purified water is used as the diluent. For our customers benefit, where a remedy has been
made by our machine we have indicated this on the label with the initials "HK" (Helios
Korsakov)

LM potencies
We have a large range of LM potencies which have been prepared according to the
Organon 6th edition (except that our vegetable remedies have been started using the 3c
prepared by succussion in liquid dilution rather than trituration in lactose). The size of
our LM granules is such that 100 = 60mg (1 grain) as Hahnemann suggests and all LM
medicated granules are thoroughly medicated and dried before dispatch.
