ACTIVITY 1. What is this number? Who are you?

I hope you are ready to thoroughly investigate this mysterious number we call the “golden
number.” This number, known since ancient times, is present in numerous works of art, both
sculptural and pictorial, and has been used by different artists over the centuries. It is also
curious how it is present in objects that we use daily and in natural phenomena.

You may wonder how all this is possible. To find out, they will have to do research using the
Internet, analyzing some web pages from three different points of view (mathematical,
historical-artistic and nature-everyday life).

To begin the investigation, groups of pairs must be formed. Include your name and your
classmate’s name on this document. (go to the document).

Behind all these objects hides a special number that you are going to discover and that will
amaze you.

Get ready to start the adventure of searching for the "Golden Number"
ACTIVITY 3. Let’s research! DEADLINE: 28 de noviembre

Mathematical Research:

You will study the number from a mathematical point of view (value, properties, mathematical
curiosities, etc.). To do this, the following sections will be taken into account:

– Value of the golden ratio. Various names it receives. Symbol used.


– Golden rectangle: construction and properties.
– Where is the golden number in Pythagorean star.
– Where is the golden number in Fibonacci sequence.
– The golden spiral: characteristics and properties

Historical and artistic Research:

You will search for monuments and pictorial or sculptural works of art related to the golden
number throughout history, making an overview of their authors and civilizations. To do this:

– Find at least five buildings related to the golden number.


– List your architects or designers and frame them in their historical context.
– Find at least five paintings or sculptures in which the golden number is present.
– Make brief reviews of its authors and their historical context.

Nature and Real Life Research:

Research at least five buildings related to the golden number.


- List five examples where you can find the golden number in Nature.

All this information must be written on a “pdf” document and you send me using Moodle.
ACTIVITY 4. Video and Explanation DEADLINE: 5 de diciembre

Make a video using the app you consider/choose with an explanation of the different
parts that you have researched. Use photographs to help you.

Share the link of your video on Moodle (you can upload this video to DRIVE) and
include on a new “foro” your conclusions about this number.
ACTIVITY 5. Conclusions DEADLINE: 12 de diciembre

Use “Foro” on Moodle to include a conclusion about your efforts and conclusions that you
have got.
