Jack Finney, whose real name was Walter Braden Finney,


was an American author known for his science fiction and
fantasy works. He was born on October 2, 1911, in
Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and passed away on November 14,
1995. Finney gained recognition for his unique ability to
blend elements of science fiction with everyday life and his
skill in creating stories with a strong sense of nostalgia and
mystery.
Finney's storytelling often featured elements of nostalgia and
an exploration of the past, as seen in "The Third Level," a
short story about time travel within a train station, and "An
Affair of State," a novella dealing with a political conspiracy
