How does this help my children’s learning?

Talking activities are great for developing

social skills, listening skills, resilience,
self-esteem, turn taking and respect.

Ideas for further learning:

Why not come up with your own ‘talk

topics’ as a family? Write them on some
cards, shuffle them up and play your own
game with different topics and questions.
This one is bound to get a giggle!
Talk Challenge
Cards: Travelling
Print these cards (or choose one at
random), cut them up and shuffle them.
Take it in turns to choose a card and set
your timer for one minute. If one minute
is too long, try 30 seconds to start with.
Or, if you want a challenge, can you fill
two minutes talking about the subject?

For each card, there is a question or sentence for you to talk about. There are also
some ‘Think about’ prompts. They are a good way to get you used to the game. Once
you are feeling more confident, you can choose not to use them if you don’t want to.
