COMMUNICATIVE STYLES
GENERAL DIRECTIONS: This Learner’s Activity Sheet will help you learn more about
communicative styles. Follow the instructions in each activity.

✓ Speech Styles refer to the form of language that we use in different social
situations. Since we change the way we relay messages depending on the
event, we also consider the necessary degree of formality that must be
present. (Joos, 1967)

A. Directions: Read the sentences in each item and identify which speech style is
being described. Choose your answer from the box and write it on the space
before the number.
