Subject: Regarding various common issues related with masters and PhD students

Sir,
With due respect and utmost politeness, we would like to bring your attention towards some
genuine issues being faced by masters and PhD students, listed below -
1. The academic fee has been increased by 10 times compared to the previous year whereas no
increment has been done in fellowship. Further fellowship disbursement has not taken place
even up to August 2023.
2. Despite being admitted to NDRI in January 2023, no identity card has been issued to any of
the students, similarly being a scholar of a national level research institute, no institutional e-
mail id has been provided.
3. Although the health cards were issued in April 2023 but the date of issue mentioned on the
card is October 2022.
4. Student union fee (Rs. 1000/- per person) has been collected but till date there is no existence
of student union in the institute. Similarly, fee has been charged on the name of sports and
cultural events but no sports or cultural activity has been held after COVID19.
In light of the increased financial strain, it is essential to review the current student stiped rates.
We urge you to consider raising the monthly stipend to a minimum of Rs. 37000/- for PhD students and
Rs. 15000/- for master’s students, aligning with the disbursement standards set by the DST. It is
noteworthy that institutes like IARI are already providing a stipend of Rs. 31000/- per month. We,
therefore request you to look into the matter and take the necessary action.
