Week 9: Power Pages

Introduction
This document will cover the product requirements for each week of the Power Up Program.
Each week’s curriculum will teach you new product skills and will therefore require new product
sign ups.

We’ve established a list of products required, system requirements per product, and product
limitations. If you find you are having access issues or issues connecting to databases,
connectors, etc., please review this document to ensure the system requirements and product
limitations are not blocking you.

General Program Device Requirements

• For an optimal program experience, we recommend using a Windows device running
Windows 10 or 11. Windows Home is not supported for this program.
• We do not support the use of a cellular/tablet device for this program. You will need a
desktop computer or laptop to complete the course.
• The use of a MacBook is permitted, but you will be limited in some of the course
modules, as some downloadable Microsoft products used in Weeks 6 and 7 (Power
Automate Desktop and Power BI Desktop) are only supported on Windows machines.
See Week 6: Dashboard in a Day for more details. You can access the Learning
Management System (LMS) with a MacBook.
• See Power Up Program Minimum Technology Requirements for more details.
• After signing up for the Microsoft 365 Developer Program, you will have two “tenant”
accounts that end in “.onmicrosoft.com:”
o Use the learnwithpowerup.onmicrosoft.com account that the Power Up
Program provided by email to access the LMS only.
o Use the new .onmicrosoft.com account that you created when you signed up for
the Microsoft 365 Developer Program to sign in to Microsoft products used in
the program.
o Do not sign into Microsoft Learn or the Ask Me Anything tool.

Prerequisite Developer Accounts: Creating a Microsoft 365

Developer Program Account and a Power Platform Developer Plan
• Follow the video guidance in the Learning Management System’s Getting Started course
to create the Microsoft 365 Developer Program Account and the Power Platform
Developer Plan. Here are links to the plans referred to in the video:
o Microsoft 365 Developer Program: aka.ms/m365devplan
o Power Apps Developer Plan: aka.ms/powerappsdevplan

• Remember to use your personal email to sign up for the Microsoft 365 Developer
Program, so you can reset your password via email if you lose your account credentials.
• While working through the course content in Microsoft Learn, you may be prompted to
create a new environment. You’ve already created an environment by signing up for the
Power Apps Developer Plan, so use that developer environment instead of creating a
new environment.
• Please review the Microsoft 365 Developer Program FAQ and the Power Apps Developer
Plan FAQ for more information.

System requirements and product limitations

• No known system requirements to sign up for the Microsoft 365 Developer Program or
Power Apps Developer Plan.
• After signing up for the Microsoft 360 Developer Program, you will gain access to an E5
Sandbox which entitles you to 30+ Microsoft products. Each product may have specific
system requirements. To find product specific system requirements, search Technical
documentation | Microsoft Learn and type the product name to find system
requirements for each product.
• Limitations for Power Apps Developer Plan: Creating data flows with Dataverse is
unavailable at this time.

Week 1: Discover Power Platform and Power Apps

• Instead of creating a new environment, use the developer environment that was created
when you signed up for the Power Apps Developer Plan.

System requirements and product limitations

• No known limitations.

Signing in to OneDrive for Business:

• You’ll be prompted to use a OneDrive for Business Connector.
• Using an InPrivate or Incognito browser, navigate to OneDrive for Business.
• Select Sign in (in the top right corner of the page) and enter your
YOURNAME@XYZ.ommicrosoft.com account you created when signing up for the
Microsoft 365 Developer Plan. Do not use your @learnwithpowerup.onmicrosoft.com
account.
• Leave OneDrive for Business open in the browser tab and navigate back to
make.powerapps.com.
• Connect the OneDrive for Business connector.

Week 2: Automate a business process using Power Automate
Obtaining Power Automate Desktop
• Power Automate Desktop is not supported by Windows 10 Home, Windows 11 Home,
or earlier versions of Windows. Read more about supported devices.
• You’ll be prompted to sign up for a Power Automate Desktop Trial in the learn module.
Instead of going through that link, go to Robotic Process Automation (RPA) | Microsoft
Power Automate.
• Select Start free.

• If prompted, run a Power Automate desktop update.

• You may need to search for Power Automate in your desktop search bar.
• Sign in with your Developer Account credentials. If you run into download or sign-in issues,
view the known limitations and system requirements below.
• When the Desktop app opens, you may see a diamond icon that says Go Premium. Select
Go Premium and then select Start Trial. After starting a premium trial, you will be able to
continue with your developer environment.
• If you are unable to start a premium trial, Power Automate for Desktop requires you to use
the default environment, go ahead and do so for this part of the curriculum.
Since you will be using the default environment for Power Automate Desktop, be sure to
use the default environment when you build the connectors in the Cloud Power Automate
(the browser version).

Obtaining a Mail Chimp trial

• You may need to create a Mail Chimp account so you can use a Mail Chimp connector.
• Go to Signup | Mailchimp and sign up for a free account. If you start a trial instead, you may
be asked for your credit card, so be sure to follow the link to create a free account.
• Use your developer account credentials to create the Mail Chimp account so that your
credentials link across products.

System requirements and Power Automate for Desktop limitations
• Power Automate Desktop is not supported by Windows 10 Home, Windows 11 Home,
or earlier versions of Windows. Read more about supported devices.
• Only work or school account users with a Dataverse database provisioned in their default
environment can create Power Automate desktop flows. Power Automate desktop flows are
stored in the default environment with the Dataverse database.
• If the Dataverse database doesn't exist in the default environment, the user won't be able to
create desktop flows, and will be prompted to create a database. There will be no
connectivity of Power Automate desktop flows with cloud flows.
• After users create the Dataverse in the Power platform admin center, they might be
prompted to create it again. In this scenario, exit Power Automate for desktop from the
system tray icon and restart it.
• If users have signed in with trial or paid accounts and want to connect their free Microsoft
accounts, they must use Power Automate for desktop version 2.6.48.21069 or above.
Otherwise, they'll encounter the following error:

• Power Automate applies the proxy configuration specified in Windows proxy settings. If the
proxy server requires authentication, the administrator must exclude Power Automate from
using it or use another server that doesn't require authentication. Learn more
about configuring Power Automate to bypass a corporate proxy server.
• The number of actions that can be logged in a single desktop flow run is limited to 10,000.
Extra actions will be performed but won't be logged.

Week 3: App in Day

• You will be prompted to sign up for a Power Apps trial and create a new environment.
You do not need to complete these steps as you already have access to Power Apps and
an environment.

Classified as Microsoft Confidential

• Where possible, remember to use your developer environment for the app in a day
session.
• If you run into blockers that you are unable to resolve, review the section titled “How to
start a module without completing previous module(s)” on page 3 of the App in a Day –
Lab Overview. You may skip any sections so as not to remain blocked.

System requirements and product limitations

Same as week one, inclusive of Power Apps and Power Automate.

Week 4: Customize an App and build from data

• In this module Exercise - Create a Microsoft Dataverse table - Training | Microsoft Learn,
instead of selecting Dataverse in the left menu and then finding Tables, Tables has been
moved so you directly select Tables and create a new Dataverse Table.
• You can use your developer environment for Week 4.

Week 5: Store and manage your data

• You’ll utilize existing environments and trials for this module (preferred environment is
the developer environment)

Accessing data in Excel

• When you are prompted to export data into Excel and import the data, you’ll need to
sign in to Excel with your Developer Account credentials.
• You may need to be signed in to OneDrive for Business. Try exporting the data to an
Excel file in your OneDrive for Business account, or export the Excel data to your device
and then import the Excel file into OneDrive for Business.

Signing into Teams

• You’ll be prompted to sign in to Teams. If needed, download the Teams app from
Download Microsoft Teams Desktop and Mobile Apps | Microsoft Teams.
• Sign in to Teams using your .onmicrosoft.com account associated with your Developer
environment. Do not use your learnwithpowerup.onmicrosoft.com account.
