Figure 31 Shaker PCB alarm board

The thrombocytes shaker has been developed to agitate platelets with care while they are stored.
The construction of the girder assures a horizontal movement of the platelets.

Shaker PCB board is one of two electronic boards in Agitator Device (another one is Shaker
transformer board). Function of this PCB board is to detect the movement. Hall sensor, placed on
the edge of the Shaker PCB, detects movement of the girder of the Shaker unit. It is triggered by
magnet placed in construction of the girder. Signal LED diode is blink every time magnet passes
beside Hall sensor.
This PCB board contents logic IC circuits which role are to measure to and observe the time
between movements. Output alarms are: Sound alarm (buzzer), light alarm (LED Diode), and
action of relay’s gate reconnection.
You can vary the time delay after which a movement alarm is triggered by resetting a jumper on
the alarm board from min time (JP1) to about max time (JP4).

7.1.2 Alarm board test and servicing

In order to perform the test procedure the following is necessary:

 Test Power Supply 5VDC/100mA or connection from the output of the Shaker transformer
board.
 Magnet. Button or similar type for triggering of Hall sensor.
 Electronic multi meter (with capability to measure DC voltage up to 10V and with
diode/short circuit beeper) - example on picture on this page.
 Test LED diodes with connectors- two pairs
 Stopwatch (e.g. from mobile phone or similar) for measure time-delay.

Figure 32 Multi meter like required for check and service

 Make a visual inspection of the assembled Shaker PCB. Every point should be soldered
proper, without hidden shortcuts between tracks, etc. One jumper must be present. No
mechanical damages allowed. Check engraves serial number made during assembling.

 Check the cable connection. Switch to Diode/Short circuit beeper function on the multi
meter. Check the corresponding cables on both sides, pin by pin.

 Measure/check (at the green clamp- J3) input DC voltage. Value should be 5VDC.

 Place jumper on position JP1.

 Switch on the power supply device. Start the time measurement on some stopwatch. Stop
the measurement when sound alarm is activated. Enter the measured value into test
protocol.

 Switch off the power supply unit. Move the jumper to position JP2. Again start the time
measurement together with starting of DC input power supply. Enter the measured value
into test protocol.

 Switch off the power supply unit. Move the jumper to position JP3. Again start the time
measurement together with starting of DC input power supply. Enter the measured value
into test protocol.

 Switch off the power supply unit. Move the jumper to position JP4. Again start the time
measurement together with starting of DC input power supply. Enter the measured value
into test protocol.

Thrombocytes Shaker Service Manual

 Switch on the input DC voltage. Place the magnet close to Hall sensor. Signal LED diode
must blink. It detects Hall sensor triggering. Annotation* - Hall sensor is of uni-polar type-
react only on one magnet pole.

 No movement is signalling by Sound Alarm (buzzer) and with LED Diode. Connect the test
LED diodes into connectors J4, J5

 Electronic Multimeter set to diode/short circuit beeper function. No movement force the
relay to reconnect the switching contacts. Check this functionality on connector J2.

1. Mount the board on the appropriate place on the test stand.

2. Connect 220VAC cable to J1.
3. Check cable connections. Use the multi meter switched to beep diode test.
4. Precautions should be taken while operate with high voltages!
5. Connect cable to main power line.
6. Measure voltages on J2 and J3
7. Disconnect cable from main power line before remove it from board.

8 Maintenance and cleaning

For cleaning of parts of the housing and all other parts that are accessible from outside, please
use an alcoholic area-wide disinfectant as it is used in clinics. For harmless contamination even
spirit can be utilised.

Attention: Please avoid necessarily that fluids reach the interior electrical parts of the device.

Please clean the inside of the device from possible abrasion carefully.

ATTENTION: Please take note that all moving parts have to be greased at least every
six months. For this it is recommended to use an oil spray to reach even hidden moving
parts.
