Facilities and Equipment of Arnis

1. WEAPON
Players are required to use any of the following weapons:

a. Wooden Stick
The wooden stick is made from rattan. It is approximately 28-30 inches long
and its diameter is 1-inch. Padded stick is used for full contact competition and
non-padded stick can be used in anyo.

b. Wooden Replica of Bladed Weapon


The wooden replica of a bladed weapon should be of ethnic Asian origin and must
not have sharp edges nor pointed ends.

c. Metallic Blunt Replica of a Bladed Weapon


The metallic replica of a bladed weapon should not have sharp edges nor pointed
ends and must be of ethnic Asian origin.
d. Wooden Replica of a Dagger or Knife
The wooden replica of a dagger or knife is also of ethnic Asian origin and it must not
have sharp edges and pointed ends. Its measurement shall be not more than 60 cm
in full length.

2. Head Protector
Head protector refers to a pair of protective head gear to include an impact-worthy face
mask.

3. Body Gear or Protector


The body gear or protector refers to a pair or protective body protector properly
cushioned.

4. Forearm and Shin Guards


The forearm and shin guard should always be used. Both shin and forearms guards
must be color coded to match the color of the player.
5. Scoreboard
The scoreboard is either manually or electronically operated. Two score boards per
contest area must be placed at diagonally opposite corners outside the playing area
within the free zone, right where the judges are positioned.

6. Score Card
The scorecard shall measure 12x8 inches. This is used by the judges to indicate the
score given to a player or a team.

7. Flags
Two sets of flags are used in each game. Both flags shall have the size of 30 cm by 25
cm. red flags are used by judges in declaring decisions or asking for consultations while
the yellow or blue flags are used by the timer to signal the start and the end of each
round. They are also used to declare a time-out and resumption of the game.

8. Stopwatch
The stopwatch is use to keep on time in each round, which is two minutes.

9. Competition Area
The competition area is the place where the competition shall be set or held, including
the free zone around it.
a. Dimensions
The playing area is a square measuring 8 meters by 8 meters with a two
meters minimum free zone around it. It also has a clear space without any
obstructions up to a height of not less than 5 meters from the playing
surface.
b. Lines of the Playing Area
All line of the playing surface is 5.08 cm. (2 inches) and must be of different
color from that of the floor.
