The ship "Flying Dutchman" belonged to the Dutch East India Company, and

transported a variety of goods: silk, spices and dyes. The ship's captain was a man
named Hendrick Van der Decken, who made many successful voyages. In 1641,
on the way to Amsterdam, the ship got caught in a storm while trying to round the
Cape of Good Hope. Even then, sailors did not like this place because of frequent
storms, an abundance of rocks and a strong current, which led to disasters. Until
1488, the place even bore the appropriate name - the Cape of Storms.
The Dutchman's team asked the captain to turn back and wait out the bad weather.
In the earliest version of the story, he agreed to turn the ship around, but could not
- the storm was too strong. But more often they say that Van der Decken wanted to
get to Amsterdam as soon as possible and decided to continue on his way, which
led to the death of the ship. It is noted that he may have been drunk that day or lost
his mind when the storm began.
The ship's crew did not put up with the captain's decision, and a mutiny began on
the ship. But he did not lead to anything: Van der Decken killed the leader of the
rebels and threw his body overboard. Having dealt with the problem, he
proclaimed that nothing would stop him on the way to the goal, and he was ready
to go around the cape until the day of judgment came. A certain ghostly entity,
similar to an angel, responded to these words.
She asked the captain if he was really ready to sail on a ship for eternity. Van der
Decken confirmed his words, at the same time being rude to the "ghost". After that,
the ship was cursed and swallowed up by a storm. Since then, the ghost of a ship
with a team of skeletons on board has been sailing the seas around the world
without the ability to land.
