Proposal for KORAN job seekers training

Institute name – Ocean University of Sri Lanka

Ocean University of Sri Lanka is the only institute for providing the fisheries training and one of
the institute for providing maritime training under ministry of skills development vocational
training in the Sri Lanka. It has been covered by island wide 8 regional centers to provide
successful training.

Available Resources

Physical Resources

8 regional centers covered by Island wide and all centers are registered in Tertiary and
Vocational Education Commission (TVEC) in Sri Lanka. All centers established at highly
fishing area such as Negombo, Jafna, Trincomalee, Baticalaw, Tangall, Galle, Kaluthara and
Colombo. Most of the fisheries related courses provided by them. Different sizes of vessels are
available for ocean related practical training and handled by a well experienced crew.

Other resources – diving units, life serving unit, fishing gear training unit, maritime training unit,
underwater welding and cutting unit, engineering work shops, outboard motor and in board
motor training workshops.

Human Resources

Permanent, contract basis and a registered visiting lecturer/instructor fool are having cover for all units.
