 4. SP Network XYZ Description

- Company XYZ is a Service Provider Network consists of three main regions X, Y, and Z
- Region X and Y are identical, they have two PEs, and two PE/Ps
- Region Z has two Ps, four PEs.
- Regions are connected to each other in a full mesh scenario via PE/Ps (Region X and Y) and Ps
(Region Z).
- To enhance node/ links redundancy, there are two planes in each region (PE/P-1 and PE/P-2).
- Another level of protection is added for PEs in each region, they are connected to each other in
a full mesh scenario.
- There are three Route-Re ectors (backup to each other), and deployed in the three regions (one
in each region), and each route re ector is connected to the two planes.
- There are three enterprise customers (CustomerA, CustomerB, CustomerC) with their branches
geographically separated and connected SP Network XYZ
- Enterprise customer A branches are connected directly to each other for more protection and
redundancy via another provider, and same for Enterprise customer B.

5. Tra c Flow Design

- Tra c exits from source region is preferred to exit via plane 1 node (PE/P-1) and arrives to
destination region via plane 1 node on their direct connections.
- If plane 1 node of destination region was down, tra c still exits from plane 1 node of source
region, and arrives at plane 2 node of destination region on their direct connections.
- If all direct connections between source and destination region were found down, tra c travels
to the indirect region then to the destination region via plane 1 nodes as a rst priority, or via
plane 2 nodes if any link / node at plane 1 was down.
