Research Statement

J Vineesh Prakash

I am social science researcher working broadly in fields such as industrial economics,

international trade and finance, development issues such as migration and financial inclusion.
I model socio-economic data with the help of available econometric tools and interpret the
result to address the underlying question. These tools can be used to empirically test and verify
the established economic theories.

In my doctoral research work at IIT Roorkee, I have used dynamic panel data models and
limited dependent variable regression models to identify the determinants of profitability, R&D
as well as export performance in an industry specific setting and tested theories such as
resource-based view and examined the role played by ownership patterns of firms such as
business group affiliation. In my M.Phil. research work at Central University of Punjab, I
modelled time-series data and applied cointegration technique to assess the level of equity
markets integration of BRICS countries. Currently, as professor of economics at SRM
University AP, I teach econometrics and time series modelling to PhD candidates and branched
out to other issues such as financial inclusion and has published research papers in reputed
national and international journals such as Millennial Asia, Vision, South Asia Economic
Journal and the like and has bagged Best Paper Award at the “6th Management Doctoral
Colloquium & VGSOM Research Scholars’ Day” organised by Vinod Gupta School of
Management, IIT Kharagpur.
