ILS in Creative Nonfiction

1. What elements and devices of creative nonfiction were used in your commercial’s storyline?
Specify each.

Direct Characterization- Captain Miguel and Captain Uno are directly presented

by the author of the story as the two candidates for the upcoming election.

Indirect Characterization- In order for the reader to understand and visualize how

they are, Captain Miguel and Captain Uno's characteristics are given by the

characters their own, Cielo and Ysa.

Setting- The environment was a crowded place where the two captains were

conducting their campaign. It may be imagined as a street in a Barangay where

the two are displaying their attributes in order to win the hearts of the people in

the coming election.

Figures of Speech- A figure of speech, which is a simile was used in describing

the appearance of a character, Captain Miguel. He was described as someone who

looked like they came out straight of a movie scene.

Point of View- We uses Third Person Point of View, Same as Third Person

Omniscient since the writer is aware that the two women, Cielo and Ysa, have

independent prospects in heart.

Scenes- Environments are representations of reality, the scenes provided in the

piece sparked the readers' imaginations. The commercial script was written as a
tribute to what is really going on in our society, and by using scenes, the readers

were able to effectively image what happened in reality.

Dialogues- They talk with each other through the use of words. Dialogues were
used to emphasize the interaction between characters and to correctly represent
what the characters are feeling and thoughts.

2. What message can the viewers/readers get from your commercial video?

Our commercial video talks about how important it is to dig deeper into a

candidate's background. One must vote out of seeing the ability to lead and heart

for the community of those who are running for a position. It shouldn't be defined

about what we only see on the outside. We should use our right to vote to promote

change in our community and we will be able to do that if we looked into the

transparency of those who are running and see how they set their platforms ablaze

with rightful dignity and pride.

3. Why is it important to create storyline that uses personal experiences as a reference?

It is important for us to create storylines that have personal experiences as

reference because those experiences are reality based. A lot of people encounter

similar experiences in life, whether it is challenges, ups and downs, or just a daily
encounter in our society. By basing storylines on personal experiences, those who

will read it will be able to relate more to the context and they will able to

understand the message of what you are trying to say easily. Moreover, it will

help them in decision-making if a similar case happens in real life in the future.
