Section 7 - Standard Semester Dates and Census Dates
Census dates for standard teaching periods (coursework)
Each subject of study offered at the University will have a census date. Students will incur fees for all subjects that they are enrolled in
after the census day for each subject
For example; for Semester 1 2020, the census date is 31 March 2020. This is the last day on which a student may withdraw from a
subject without financial penalty. Any subject a student is enrolled on 01 April 2020 will be included in their fee assessment. The only
exception to this is where an international student is in the first semester of their enrolment. In this case, if you withdraw from your course
before the close of business on the census dates* for all of your enrolled subjects you will receive a 50% refund for these subjects.
Continuing students will receive a 100% refund.
Census dates for the subjects in which a student is enrolled are detailed on your Statement of Account and the census date for every
subject offered by the University including non-standard teaching periods are published at: latrobe.edu.au/calendar/all-students/census-
dates If a census date is not a working day, then the subject must be completed by the last working day before the census date.
Dates for system-generated KN Grades
KN Grade
If a student withdraws from a subject after two thirds of the teaching period has passed but before the end of teaching period, they will have
a KN grade recorded against that subject. 'KN' signifies that a student has withdrawn with academic penalty (i.e. counted as a failure).
A student cannot withdraw from a subject after the teaching period has ended.
