CASTING CRITIQUE:

1. Follows prescription

2. Porosity or pits- no nicks or scratches

3. Proper finishing lines –nice and smooth

4. Polished

5. Guide planes exist

6. Proper length of clasps

7. Clasp adapted and not sharp (well rounded to avoid abrasion)

8. Seated rest and proper shape (should fit well and should not be too bulky or too thin)

9. Rock on model

-Check for reasonably easy insertion and removal

-Look for abrasion marks on abutment teeth (especially near rigid clasp parts)

-Check for excessive clicking sound at insertions

10. Centric occlusion still exists

11. Check for relief where needed, i.e. median raphe, incisive papilla

12. Proper distance of metal from cervical margin

13. Smooth transition from metal to tissue

14. Proper thickness and relief under lingual bar

15. Check for strength and absence of bulkiness

16. Mesh should have sufficient relief and strong

17. Posts for anteriors in proper position, strong and not interfering with opposing dentition.
