In my drawing, I only depicted three things that are unique to the Philippines: The Philippine flag, filipiniana, and
carabao. Carabao is known as the Pinoy
farmer’s best buddy in the rice field. According to my research, the carabao is considered the national animal of the Philippines. The carabao represents the Filipinos’ hard work and perseverance. If you see a woman wearing filipiniana, you can tell that she is from the Philippines because filipiniana is the national and traditional dress of the Philippines, that are only worn during occasions and special events. Lastly, the Philippine flag, according to my research, the sun in the Philippine flag, represents liberty, and its eight rays represent the first eight provinces that revolted against Spain. The three stars stand for the three big islands of the Philippines, namely Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao. As for the colors used, white represents hope for equality, while the blue stripe stands for peace, truth, and justice. Finally, the red stripe symbolizes patriotism and valour. However, when the two stripes are interchanged, this signals that the country is in a state of war. That makes the Philippine flag unique among the flags of other countries.
