Hi!

Allan here.

Thanks for downloading “Hooked: 25 Attention-Grabbing

Subject Lines That Makes Your Emails Noticed, Opened, and
Read”.

Legendary ad man, David Ogilvy, famously said

“On the average, five times as many people read the

headline as read the body copy. When you have written
your headline, you have spent eighty cents out of your
dollar.”

It’s absolutely critical to get your audience attention. And

nothing is more critical in email than the subject lines.

So together with my community of email marketers, we

collected some of the subject lines that actually made us
open the email.

It’s not about sounding great or witty.

It’s about effectivity.

We’ve compiled these life-tested subject lines for you.

Study. Tweak. Deploy.

Rooting for you,

A Quick Introduction
on Subject Lines

The goal of the subject line is to get the email read.

That’s it.

You don’t have to tell the whole story nor sell from
this place. You have to compel them to open that
email right now.

The best way to do that is to appeal to the human’s

natural sense to close open loops. We don’t like
leaving things unresolved. Ironically, this is why
television series use cliffhangers all the time, you
need that closure.

And how do we do that with subject line?

One word - Curiosity.

Here are subject lines organized into different

categories according to your business needs.
BENEFIT DRIVEN

These subject lines are straight forward. The reader

will have a pretty clear idea of what to expect when
they open the email. As a result of this clarity, it also
means it will repel people who aren’t interested in
that specific topic. Best use to speaking to a targeted
list of people.

INTRIGUE

This type of email take the curiosity factor up a

notch. It’s what I’d like to Refer to as a blind subject
line. It grabs the readers attention just enough
To tickle his curiosity but leaves him in the dark on
what the email could be about.
This is less targeted but allows for more eyeballs to
see your message.

SHOCK FACTOR

Oh... baby! Here we go. The shock factor emails

are used to jolt your readers attention. It’s like the
intrigue emails but a little stronger (& controversial).
People can get boarded from time to time even from
your best emails, so these subject lines can come in
handy to peak their attention.

WARNING: Don’t use this as clickbait. Always make

sure to connect your email content is congruent
to the subject line. You want to be viewed as a

SCARCITY

This type of email is less about curiosity but triggers

a powerful emotion nonetheless -- the fear of missing
out. Often used for deadlines to get people to take
action. Don’t expect high open rates but a large
percentage of those who do click on your link.

PERSONAL

This category is perhaps one of the most powerful

emails you can write. You can’t abuse it though, it’s
power comes from how rare it’s used as well as how
deep it connects with your readers. Reserve these for
those moments when you want to share your beliefs
or philosophies in a deep, personal way. This can
create an unbreakable bond with your audience.
