COMPLEX ANALYSIS:

1. Two complex numbers have a product of 30 and positive integers as real parts. Write all possible
combinations of such numbers.

Sol:

STEP 1: Let us assume two complex numbers, a complex number is a combination of real and
imaginary part and is represented mathematically in general as shown below:

z=x +iy
Where x and y are real numbers and i is the imaginary root of the function. Now let the two complex
numbers be as follows:

x=m+ia∧ y=n+ib→(a)
STEP 2: From given statement the product of two complex numbers is 30, hence eq→ ( a )

Becomes as follows:

xy=30 ⟹ ( a+ ib ) ( m+¿ )=30→(b)

Now expanding and simplifying eq→ ( b ) we get:

mn+imb+ian−ab=30
Rearranging above equation we get:

( mn−ab ) +i ( mb+ an )=30 → ( c )

STEP 3: Now rearranging the expression in eq→ ( c ) we get:

an=−bm⟹ a=−b ( mn ) ,now substituting this value∈real part we get

mn+b ( )=30
2m
n

Hence from above equation we conclude that mn ≤30∧hence b=±

√ n
m
(30−mn )

STEP 4: Hence by choosing all positive couples of integers (m,n) we obtain the possible combinations
of complex numbers such that mn ≤30 this is expressed as follows :

m+ia=m∓ i
√ m
n √
( 30−mn ) ,n+ ib=n ±i n ( 30−mn )
m
