As seen on the next slide Procedure Generator III is no longer supported. The Symmetrix Procedure
Generator is the Generator that should be used by default for all procedures on 5670 and above.
When down loading the new Procedure Generator document files are copied to c:\createprocedure.
The Symmwin script file CreateProc.smp is copied into c:\createprocedure\script and split into
separate folders (\5772, \5771, \5671, \5670). These files must then be copied to the Symmwin
directory on your pc.

During the Procedure Generator download you can see the c:\createprocedure folder being
automatically created. Note that the instructions to copy CreateProc.smp to your local SymmWin
folder are shown.

In this example the user had created separate 5773 and 5874 versions of SymmWin, each of these
instances of SymmWin will need to have the CreateProc.smp file copied into the sub folder (\bin for
5771 and 5772 \ucode for 5670 and 5671). This example shows only the 5874 folder being updated.
Note that the Createproc.smp file already existed but is still being replaced with the later version.

Enginuity Packs
Enginuity packs are used to fix problems in microcode and the Enginuity Packs website should be
accessed to check if a pack is needed for the Enginuity to be loaded. Prior to loading any Enginuity
Pack, verify the Symmetrix doesn't currently have a Enginuity Pack loaded by issuing the
E7,SYRN,,,'T‘ inlines command. Various Enginuity levels require unique packs.

Enginuity Releases
y Operating Environment for Symmetrix
– Each processor in each director is loaded with Enginuity
– Enginuity allows the independent director processors to act as one
Integrated Cached Disk Array
¾ Also provides the framework for advanced functionality like SRDF, TimeFinder, etc.
5874.121.102
The numbers that define an Enginuity level have specific meaning. In this example, the 58 represents
the V-MAX hardware, 75 is the microcode family, 121 is the field release level to the microcode, and
102 is the field release to the service processor code.
Non-disruptive microcode upgrade and load capabilities are currently available for the Symmetrix.
