Assignment II

Maximum Marks: 15
Reflect on the need for Socio Emotional Learning (SEL) in schools in India. Describe any
one SEL program and critically comment on its applicability. Comment on the strengths and
limitations of the programme.

Assessment Criteria:

1. Formatting (1 mark)
- 12-point font (Calibri, Georgia, Times Roman).
- 1.5 line spacing.
- 1000 total words (800 – 1100), not including words in title page, abstract, or bibliography.
- Write the entire paper in paragraphs, not in bullet points.
- Paper should follow order outlined below.

2. Reflection on use of SEL (2 marks)


- 150 to 200 words.

4. Description of the programme selected (5 marks)


-500-600 words
- Age group
- Summarize all the main exercises, ideas, perspectives, methods, results, or any other
relevant details of the programme
- The aim is to use few words in your own language that demonstrates your understanding of
the programme.

5. Critical analysis (7 marks)


- 500 to 700 words
-Applicability of the programme
-Strength and limitations
- Consists of own reflections and insights into the programme
- You can use some of these questions do help formulate your critical analysis:
 Will this be beneficial for children in India?
 Will children (of the given age range) be able to understand the exercises give and
implement them?
 Will these changes be long lasting and impact other domains of the children’s lives?
 Does the programme include all aspects of the CASEL’s SEL framework?
 Can you think of yourself and your friends in that age and reflect on whether you
would have benefitted from such programme?
 Does the programme adequately account for the children’s context? Home life?
Cultural experience?
