The Art of Making Do

by GrwwOuttakes

Summary

When your tools are limited, you have to take them beyond their accustomed function. That
goes double for the tools of communication.

Notes

Ledo and Ix communicate in word balloons. They look like this:

(temporarily in Undisclosed Fandom until fandom is canonized)

"I did quests before I met you, you know," Ix said from his side of the campfire.

"Like what?" Ledo asked skeptically.

"A poetry quest."

"What did you do for that?"

"Had to bring them a haiku," Ix said.

"Was it hard to find?"

"Don't know. I ended up making it myself."

Ledo seemed fascinated. "You figured out how to craft a quest item? It's impossible."

"Not... exactly. I figured out how to format my word bubbles."

Ledo's next word bubble showed only "...."

So Ix thought he would demonstrate:

"To build a haiku,

I pause significantly
Between the right words."
