Reaction Paper
Pres. Ferdinand Marcos J.r ( 100 Days of Service )

INTRODUCTION

Ferdinand Romualdez "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. the 13th of September, 1957. The 17th and current
president of the Philippines is a Filipino politician known by the initials PBBM or BBM. In
addition to being the secretary of agriculture, Marcos also holds the position concurrently. He
was a senator before, from 2010 until 2016.

CAMPAIGN PROMISES

During the 2022 elections, one of Marcos' most well-liked campaign promises was the P20 per
kilo of rice. He swore to suggest a rice price ceiling as a candidate for the top position in the
nation and to charge government organizations with acting as intermediaries in the acquisition of
crops.

The local markets still do not carry P20/kilo rice more than a year into his government.
According to Department of Agriculture data, the cost of normally milled rice in Metro Manila
markets on July 13, 2023 ranged from P36 to P42 per kilogram. Premium rice costs P42 to P49
per kilogram, whereas well-milled rice costs P40 to P46 per kilogram. The unique local
commercial rice, on the other hand, is priced between P48 and P60, according to the DA
statistics.

However, one could buy rice at government-sponsored Kadiwa booths for P25 a kilo as part of
the Marcos administration's initiatives to guarantee food security and protect consumers from the
surge in the cost of essential goods.

An upbeat Marcos claimed that the administration was getting close to attaining this objective for
Filipinos in March of this year. However, he did not specify when this promise would be
fulfilled.
ACHIEVEMENTS

FOOD SUFFICIENCY
Marcos has assumed the leadership of the Department of Agriculture (DA), reflecting the
administration’s efforts to secure food sufficiency. “Locally, the Department of Agriculture has
continuously provided production inputs to farmers and fisherfolk, such as high-quality seeds
and fertilizers, as well as post-harvest machinery and facilities, including trucks, dryers, and
mills — all that can potentially contribute to the productivity and profitability of our farm
workers and to increase their livelihoods for them to once again make a living out of the
agricultural sector,” Marcos said in his speech.

Early on in his reign, Marcos faced a number of difficulties, including rising food costs, which
were mostly driven by rice and sugar.

After surging to a four-year high of 6.9 percent in September from a low of 6.3 percent in
August, inflation averaged 5.1 percent in the first nine months of the year. Since April of this
year, the consumer price index has exceeded the BSP's target range of two to four percent.

The Monetary Board of the central bank now projects inflation to reach 5.6 percent this year, up
from its earlier prediction of 5.4 percent, and to stabilize at 4.1 percent next year, down from its
earlier prediction of 4%.

SIM REGISTRATION
SIM Registration Act (Republic Act 11934)
Sen. Grace Poe, who sponsored the measure, said in a statement that this law has "adequate
safeguards that will vouch for consumers' right to privacy while ensuring a safe and secure
mobile use."
This was in response to a temporary restraining order filed by Junk SIM Registration Network
before the Supreme Court on the law's implementation. The National Union of Journalists of the
Philippines and other groups also questioned the measure's constitutionality, but the SC later
junked the TRO.
In May, however, the Department of Information and Communications Technology said that
scammers have adapted to the law, saying that malicious actors have reprogrammed their
approach to text scams. Their scams now range from sending messages to putting up fake SIM
registration sites to capture personal information online, the DICT said.

In his presidency PBBM released a law that we need to register our sim card before we use or
use our data. Many of us Filipinos receive fake messages from many anonymous unidentified
sims.
Based on what Martin Romualdez said. According to Office of the Press Secretary
officer-in-charge Cheloy Garafil, the SIM Card Registration Act aims to provide “accountability
in the use of SIM cards and aid law enforcers to track perpetrators of crimes committed through
phones.”
