TOKYO, Feb 28 (Reuters) - Tokyo's broad TOPIX index dropped 3.23 percent on Wednesday
after a sell-off in global markets prompted investors to ditch stocks across the board from
Nippon Steel Corp. <5401.T> to Toyota Motor Corp. <7203.T>.
Shares of Nikko Cordial Corp. <8603.T> plunged 14.9 percent following a newspaper report that
the brokerage was likely to be delisted due to an accounting scandal. [ID:nT262639]
The TOPIX <.TOPX> shed 58.59 points to 1,752.74. The Nikkei <.N225> lost 2.85 percent to
17,604.12.

HONG KONG, Feb 28 (Reuters) - Hong Kong blue chips slid 2.5 percent and China plays tumbled
3.2 percent on Wednesday in their second straight day of sharp losses, as a global equities rout
sparked a sell-off led by financial issues.
The falls came a day after the worst daily loss in mainland shares in a decade.
The benchmark Hang Seng Index <.HSI> ended at 19,651.51.
The China Enterprises index of H-shares <.HSCE>, or Hong Kong-listed shares in mainland
companies, ended at 9,283.67, its lowest close since Dec. 19.
