3. COVID-19 se u značajnoj mjeri može razviti u ozbiljnu bolest sa smrtnim ishodom kod ljudi koji
imaju određena bolesna stanja i deficijencije homeostaze organizma kao što su hipertenzija,
poremećaji u metabolizmu lipida, pretilost, neregulirani dijabetes, anksioznost te deficit D
vitamina. Istraživanje na uzorku od 4,9 milijuna hospitaliziranih odraslih je pokazalo da je

Pandemijska mjera samoizolacije i prisilnog dugotrajnog kontakta članova istog kućanstva u


zatvorenom prostoru rezultirala je isporukom visokog titra virusa među članovima obitelji i dovela do
značajno lošijih ishoda zaraze. Kao kod svih respiratornih virusa ozbiljnost simptoma pa tako i konačni
ishod zaraze, osobito za osobe s komorbiditetima, itekako ovisi o dozi primljenog virusa. Što se tiče
smrtnih ishoda, problem izloženosti nije u brojnosti kontakata, nego u bliskosti i dugotrajnosti
pojedinog kontakta na što je velik utjecaj imao lockdown i mjera samoizolacije za kontakte koji su
najčešće članovi istog kućanstva. Izostanak uobičajenih socijalnih kontakata zbog izolacija i upotrebe
maski imao je negativan učinak na imunološku homeostazu zbog izostanka pripreme prirodnog
imuniteta vrlo niskim dozama virusnih čestica kojima se tijelo upoznaje s virusom u procesom tzv.
‘abortivne zaraze’. Negiranje sezonalnosti virusa je u mnogim zemljama spriječilo opuštanje mjere
socijalnog distanciranja i dodatno onemogućilo imuniziranje populacije u uvijetima boljeg imuniteta i
slabije zaraznosti virusa.
