The study investigated Coriander sativum (cilantro) for its potential antimicrobial
properties against pathogens causing infectious diarrhea. They analyzed the plant's
chemical composition and tested different solvent extracts against various
microorganisms, including E. coli, Salmonella species, Shigella species, and
Candida species. The methanol extract showed significant antimicrobial activity
against certain bacteria but had no antifungal activity. The study also compared the
plant extract's antimicrobial efficacy to standard antibiotics. Further research may
be needed to identify specific bioactive compounds and their clinical potential.
