AIMS: Learn when to use articles a/an, the, no article
MATERIALS: Their books
FORM OF WORK : Whole class, Group work, Individually

INTRODUCTION
- Greeting children
- Attendance check
- Question routines ( How are you?, What did you do yesterday?, etc. )

WARM-UP

I write these sentences on the board:


Where are my socks? I can´t see them anywhere.
You just relax. I´ll organize the summer holidays this year.
We need to talk.
That wasn´t a goal! He was definitely offside.
Then I ask students who they think would probably say each sentence – a man to a woman or
a woman to a man? Get them to try to say why. (5 min.)

READING AND SPEAKING

Books p.28 – Children should work in pairs and answer the questions:
1. Are you a talkative or a quiet person?
2. Who is..?
a) the most talkative person in your family
b) the most talkative person you know
3. Do you think that, generally speaking, women are more talkative than men?
4. What topics do a) men talk about more than women? b) women talk about more than men?

Get some feedback from variuos pairs. (5 min.)

EXERCISE 2

Children can see the definition of stereotype in their books. Then they should read two articles
which are also in this exercise. The first is called Men talk just as much as women and the
second is called A gossip with the girls? After reading children have to aswer the questions
related to the articles. Before reading the articles, I check them for words and phrases they
might not know. (10 min.)

GRAMMAR

I explain them, where to use given articles. I write model sentences on the board and children
can take notes.
Book 29/1 – Children have to complete the sentences with a/an, the, no article. Then we
check it together and I play the audio and children have to repeat the sentences. (10 min.)

LISTENING/ SPEAKING

Book p.31. Children have to listen carefully to complete the gaps and use the articles when
necessary. It is listening about someone who is talking about men and women. Then we will
discuss what they heard. (10 min.)
