3.2 Requirements for Installing the Revised the criteria of the diameter of the pole
Antenna Support when antenna is installed.
The IDU is an indoor unit of the OptiX RTN 910 Radio Transmission System. It performs the
functions such as service accessing, multiplexing, intermediate frequency (IF) processing,
system communication and control. To ensure easy installation and normal operation of the IDU,
the customer needs to make proper preparations according to the requirements of the IDU.
The construction of the telecommunications room should comply with the relevant local
standards.
If the RTN 910 IDU is installed in a cabinet, the space requirements are shown in Figure 2-1.
l A 1 U space is required for the IDU.
l A minimum of 25 mm space should be reserved on the left and right sides of the IDU for
ventilation.
l A minimum of 66.5 mm space should be reserved in front of the front panel for cable
routing.

The input power of the IDU is the DC power. Table 2-1 lists the requirements for the input
power of the IDU.
NOTE
l The customer can compute the capacity of the fuse according to the actual power consumption. The
formula is (Total power consumption x 1.5)/(Rated power supply x 87.5%).
l If the IDU is installed in a cabinet, the customer can purchase the DC power distribution unit (PDU)
from Huawei. This PDU inputs two channels of -48 V/ -60 V power supply and outputs eight channels
of 20 A -48 V/ -60 V power supply.
l If the customer can obtain only +24 V DC power or 110 V/220 V AC power, the customer can purchase
the power module from Huawei. For the relevant information, consult Huawei engineers.
l The capacity of the power system should be designed in full consideration of the maximum
load of the system in the dynamic and static situations. In addition, certain margin should
be reserved.
l The primary power supply and the storage battery should be of hot backup to ensure that
the equipment can work normally in the case of power failure.
l The power equipment should be placed close to the communication equipment, hence
minimizing the length of the DC feeder cable.
l The DC power cable should be routed from the DC PDU or the DC cable distribution box.
The cable diameter should meet the design requirement.
l The working ground of the DC power supply should be connected directly to the protection
ground in the telecommunications room. The diameter of the protection grounding cable
should meet the design requirement.
l The fuse for limiting the current from the DC PDU (or the DC cable distribution box) and
the primary power supply should meet the operating requirements of the equipment.
The AC power system is required at the maintenance terminal and in the engineering
implementation work. Therefore, the AC power supply in the telecommunications room should
be made available before the work. If the equipment is not installed with the network
management system (NMS), the mains power can meet the requirement of the engineering
implementation. Otherwise, the facilities such as the uninterruptible power system (UPS) should
be made available according to the requirement of the NMS.
