TI leaf lei project

Logan Izak
Driving question
How can I educate
people about Hawaiian
culture in a fun and
engaging way?
Project vision
● Learn more about the origins and culture of
lei-making. So that I better understand what I'm
going to do and so that I can do it respectfully.
● Teach what I have learned and how to make lei to
a class so that they can make ti leaf lei for
anything they might need it for.
● Do something with the lei.
Possible mentors and/or helpers
Some possible mentors could be Miah,
the new Hawaiian Studies teacher Ms
Evans , or maybe even my sister.

Miah can help me teach class and also

give me tips on my shortcomings when it
comes to making lei.

Ms Evans could probably let me know of

any part of the history or culture around
making lei.
Why this matters
● This project is important because it will give people the opportunity to give
people, like graduating families, personalized lei.
● It also gives students a chance to have a closer connection to the island they
live on and maybe even spark a connection that they will end up diving into
deeper.
My first step

● The first step I had to take was talking to Ms. Pomei

and Mr. Goring to understand what classes I would
have the opportunity to teach.
