Delegation: Moumon Nath

Country: Kingdom of Saudi Arabia

Committee: United Nations Human Rights Council

Agenda: Protection against violence and discrimination based on Sexual

Orientation and Gender Identity

“States, be what they may, can never rule the world. Reason rules the world;
justice rules the world; ethics rules the world. These can rule the world. The
world is not ruled by those who commit violent deeds.”

- King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud

The LGBTQIA+ community rights conundrum is usually associated with the spread
of westernized ideologies regarding human rights which claim to engender
modernisation of society as a whole. It is of the highest order of importance to
notice and analyse how, once again, this subject results in the clashing of Western
and Islam ideologies and cultures, and it is equally as necessary to acknowledge
how the agenda of Human Rights for queer individuals is nothing but a strategic
plan of the Western nations to topple over the governments with policies which
don’t work in accordance with their nations.

While western civilizations tirelessly advocate for developments in the sphere of

Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity (SOGI) in their own countries, our nation
is of the belief that their futile efforts to bring about equality and non-
discrimination regarding the same on a global platform will result in nothing other
than chaos and disorder in the social and political sphere of the world, and hence
disrupt the functioning of many governments worldwide. While this may not pose
a problem to Western nations, this challenges the sovereignty of other nations
and also opposes the democratic practice of respecting others’ values and
cultures.

It is also to be noted that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has taken great leaps in the
empowerment of women in the recent years, while also hosting major
entertainment and cultural events, which promotes freedom of expression while
also welcoming others to witness its culture and heritage. This goes to prove how
Saudi Arabia has been, and will continue, advocating for human rights while
always upholding the Sharia law and Islamic traditions prevailing in the country
and not allowing other nations to dictate its workings and policies.

The delegate of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia would like to propose the following
recommendations that should be taken into consideration in order to achieve a
conclusive resolution which ensures peace and harmony for all nations:

1. Legalization of coversion therapy and other facilities in order to guide and

foster the section of the youth which has been/may be deviated from the
path of righteousness and morality due to the spread of modern social
evils such as homosexuality.

2. Promotion of heterosexual family values in order to continue the

bloodline of all individuals across different nations, by providing
heterosexual couples with benefits and illegalizing homosexual unions or
marriage / depriving homosexual of the same benefits.

3. Eradicating the positive representation of LGBTQIA+ community from

mass media by banning films, news channels, newsletters, etc. from
spreading information or views regarding the gay community in order to
prevent pollution of mindsets through media portrayal.
4. Homosexual men need to be reformed through strict actions in order to
prevent the spread of the sinful disease of homosexuality, while also
preventing HIV-AIDS and thus protecting our society. Men should also be
taught to behave like men and refrain from acting feminine (through
activities such as cross-dressing).

5. Most importantly, it should be emphasized how nations should not try to

impose their views and policies on others and term it as “modernisation”
and “development”, when all it does is pillory other nations and hence
make them an object of pressure.
