    ENGINE STALLS IN REVERSE

    COMPLAINT: Engine stalls when the transmission selector is placed in reverse, but okay in drive.

    CAUSE: One possible cause can br a cross leak in the pump, or cross leak between the pump
    gears (excessive side clearance)

    CORRECTION: An in car repair can be made by removing the pressure regulator valve and
    grinding flats on the lands as shown in Figure 1. Or the valve can be replaced with
    part number 8638950
