AN ASSIGNMENT.

Solution 1.

An experiment to determine my Body Mass Index.

Equipment used. Stadiometer, the weighing scale.

Procedure.

While determining the height. I assembled the equipment with the digits arranged in ascending
order.( from zero upwards).

I removed my pair of shoes and I stood on its base upright with my heels, the back and the back
of my head touching the stadiometer.

My colleague then lowered the sliding horizontal headpiece of the stadiometer until it touched
my head

Then he took the reading as being shown by the arrows in the stadiometer in centimeters.

Then while determining the weight, I stood on the weighing scale still with my bare feet.

My colleague then took the reading of my weight in kilograms as shown on the weighing scale.

Explanation of the results.

Basing on the results of my BMI (22.582kgm−2).It therefore means that I’m healthy and normal
since my Body Mass Index lies in the normal range. This means that I have access to adequate
and nutritious food.

Solution 2.

Hunger refers to the feeling of discomfort or weakness caused by lack of food coupled by the
desire to eat. Or
It refers to the condition in which a person does not have physical and financial access to
sufficient food to meet the basic nutritional needs sustainably.

Food insecurity refers to not having access to sufficient food, or food of adequate quality, to
meet one’s basic needs.

The statement is true because of the following.

People who are food insure but not hungry have access to food which is of limited nutrients thus
making them not hungry but when in actual sense they are food insecure, for example someone
may have cassava being consumed for break, lunch, and probably supper. This person is not
hungry but facing food insecurity.

Sometimes people who are food insecure but not hungry could be having access to unsafe food
containing toxins. These people are not hungry but are highly facing food insecurity since the
food contains toxins which may end up exposing them to nutritional diseases. For example one
may be feeding on maize containing aflatoxins which at last may lead to cancer infections.

Some people feed on junk and fast food which are completely of low nutrients or even have no
nutrients thus making them satisfied but severely food insecure. These food include cakes,
sweets, hot food and burgers and pizzas. These food make someone satisfied but not food secure
since no nutrients are actually donated to the consumer thus leaving someone either wasted or
emaciated.

Some people have their food that insufficient to sustain their lives for a long period of time but
rather be satisfied for a while. Such people are not hungry all times but then are very food
insecure. For example one may have 100kilograms of posho that can only run him for a month
when he/she is not hungry but very food insecure.
