Timings.

depart at 1030 hours.
Wed 27 Jul Return to HQ at 1400 hours, clean kit and depart for homes at
1600 hours. Parents are welcome to assist with kit cleaning if available.

Feeding
All to bring a packed lunch on Sat 23 Jul.
Three patrols will be formed for the camp and will cook for themselves
plus one or two guest adults at each evening meal. Outline menu is as
follows:

Date B’fast Lunch Evening

Sat 23 B’fast at home Home made Pasta
packed lunch
Sun 24 Cooked Packed BBQ
Mon 25 Cereals etc Packed Patrol Choice
Tue 26 Cooked Packed Curry
Wed 27 Cereals etc Packed Home

Ingredients will be provided for all meals less the Patrol Choice; for that
scouts are given a budget, decide their 2- or 3- course menu, select
ingredients (which are paid for by a leader) and then create their meal.

Cost
The cost will vary depending on the number of nights each scout is
staying: 4 nights, £150; 3 nights, £120; 2 nights £80; 1 night, £40. I will
calculate the precise cost and provide a breakdown of I&E after the camp.
It would be helpful if payment could be made before end Aug please. The
budget should see us breaking even. Parents providing transport to/from
and at the camp will be given a contribution for their fuel. A small
contribution to the cost of the camp may be made from troop summer
allowance as all scouts have had the opportunity to attend.
Location and Activities

We will be camping at Braggers Wood scout campsite on the edge of the

New Forest and close to Christchurch.
https://braggers.christchurchscouts.org.uk/home/
During our camp we will be cycling, visiting the beach, hiking, and maybe
trying archery, crazy golf, crabbing, eating ice cream and wide games.
We will aim to complete as much of the requirement for the Outdoor
Challenge as we can, including service to the site, working as a team and
making camp gadgets. Outline plan is:
 Sat – arrive approx. 1300 hours, lunch, set up camp, wide game
 Sun – beach day, weather permitting, bouldering, campfire
 Mon – cycling at Burley tbc, campfire
 Tue – hike, possibly archery, geocaching tbc, campfire
 Wed – pack up camp, depart by 1200 hours

Clothing and Equipment.

Please see the kit list attached. Ensure all items are named and make
sure that scouts pack their kit themselves so they know what they have
and where it is!
If you don’t possess any items then we encourage you to ask around
before buying anything. Paying for kit that is used only a few days per
year when others in the Group are happy to lend theirs is unwise.

Note: The medical profession takes the view that the parent’s/carer’s consent to medical treatment
cannot be delegated. This view is explicit in The Children’s Act 1989. Thus, medical consent forms
have no legal status and a doctor or nurse insisting on the consent of a parent/carer to a particular
treatment has the right to do so. However, it can be a comfort to medical staff to have general
consent in advance from parents/carers or to have a Leader on hand able to sign forms required by
medical authorities.
